A French Second Empire Sienna marble mantel clock, 11.5cm enamel dial inscribed with Roman numerals, Breguet hands, 14-day movement striking on a bell, the backplate signed C de Touche, 228 R(ue) St. Martin 230, No. 25923, arched case, ropetwist and lotus bezel, tall moulded plinth base, 42cm high, c. 1860The maker, Chev. Constantin-Louis Detouche (1810-1889) was one of the most important mid-19th century clockmakers in France. He took over his father's business, founded in 1803, in the mid-1830s and made many horological improvements, and between 1845-and 1859 was joined as chef d'atelier by the renowned mechanician Jacques-Francois Houdin. In the 1860s he was appointed clockmaker to Emperor Napoleon III. During theThird Republic, his firm also retailed clocks, especially those by Japy Freres.For his efforts he was made a Knight of the Danish Order iof the Dannebrog and a Chevalier of the Legion d'Honneur.

D.S.O., M.C. WWI group. With MID, to Capt. (Temp. Major) R.S. Dixon. Highland Light Infantry. With officer commissions, MID certificate, photographs, and a history of the 12th Service Battalion, The Highland Light Infantry that he was working upon. DIXON, ROBERT SPEIR, Capt. (Temporary Major), Highland Light Infantry. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He conducted a daring reconnaissance, clearing up a difficult situation, and afterwards was of great assistance in organising and rallying men of other divisions during the battle. When his commanding officer fell he took command, continued the counter-attack, and drove the enemy out of the area. Later he led his men with great determination and courage against vastly superior numbers, thereby materially assisting the retirement of the whole division. Condition Report. Both medals are in good condition. No enamel damage to D.S.O. Some staining to promotion certificate to major and other documents. Nothing major.
