Hairline cracks and crazing throughout the base and stem. Large areas of repair around the sconce and base. Signs of previous breakage to stem and later repair. B. Warren in gold coloured circular mount, 5.5cm diameter overall (2) (at fault)CR: Nelson example: Chips and hairline cracks to the central enamel panel. Some pitting, scratching and discolouration to the enamel. Chain link border shows heavy scratching and wear, and loss to the gilt. It is possible that the enamel and surrounding frame are not original to the chain link border. The piece is mounted on a later papier mache backing, which is heavily scratched and worn. The wire hook to the top is also a later addition. See additional images for illustration.Warren example: Many hairline cracks extending from the border toward the centre. General pitting, scratching and discoloration to the enamel. Frame is heavily worn, showing splitting and piercing, and is detaching from the backing. Reverse shows heavy wear. A large fragment is replace with a papier mache like material. Glue residue visible. Chips and losses to border. Heavy loss to enamel and gilt decoration.Bowl: Several large fractures and extensive rivet repair. Large chip missing from the rim, with extensive nibbles and chips around the rim. Signs of possible later repair to the enamel decoration.Ginger jar: Large cracks and fractures throughout, signs of later repair. Extensive crazing throughout.Tea bowl: Large intersecting cracks to the rim and running down the bowl. Chips, nibbles and losses to the rim and foot.Bowl and cover: Chips, nibbles and losses to the foot of the bowl. Possible repairs to the inside of the rim. Extensive scratching and wear commensurate with age and use.Saucer: Several hairline cracks around the rim and the centre of the bowl. Nibbles to the foot of the bowl. No large chips or losses.
* A late 18th century English Armorial coffee can, in the Phillip Christian manner, of straight sided cylindrical form with plain moulded loop handle, painted in polychrome enamels with a central armorial, crest and motto, 'Spero' (I hope), the interior with gilt highlighted lattice work type bands, 6cm high (at fault) CR; Small nibble to the edge of the base of the teacup. There appears to be the beginnings of a crack where the handle meets the cup, with some possible signs of repair. Some loss to the gilt highlight on the exterior. Moderate loss to the enamel and gilt on the interior border. No cracks, chips or major losses. See pictures for further illustration.
A Worcester porcelain teapot circa 1780, decorated in a kakiemon design with alternating panels, the cover with typical floral knop, square fret mark to base, (rivet repaired and restored knop) 14cm high, with a Newhall commode shape teapot and cover, decorated in pattern 'N 173', 15cm high (at fault) (2)CR; Newhall example: Hairline cracks throughout the body of teapot, which are visible on the outside and the inside. The are several cracks to the spout of the teapot, which has had a later metal tip added on, and also shows signs of restoration where the spout meets the body. Restoration and repair to the neck of the teapot. Chips and losses to the edge of the base. Loss of enamel to the body and the cover. There is a crack to the knop of the cover, and possibly a missing embellishment to the finial. Please see additional images for illustration.Worcester teapot: large cracks to the body, visible on the exterior and interior. This has been rivet repaired in places. Possible signs of restoration to the body and around the handle. General scratching, wear and tear commensurate with age and use. Evidence of heavy restoration to the floral knop of the cover.
A 19th century mother of pearl and ivory tea caddy, the rectangular caddy with canted corners raised on four ivory bun feet, vacant cartouche to hinged cover, opening to reveal a covered compartment, 10cm high, together with a 19th century circular pratt ware pot after Murillo, 10cm diameter and a mother of pearl dressing table jar, 8.2cm high (3) (at fault) Condition Report; Pratt Ware pot: Crazing to cover. There is some loss to the enamel, concentrated on the sides and rim. There are some chips to the rim on the base, as well and crazing and some flaking to the internal enamel. Moderate wear and areas of restoration to the gilt highlighting. General scratching and wear commensurate with age and use. No large cracks or repair. Trevanion Auctioneers & Valuers do not ship items containing ivory outside the UK. Trevanion recommends that buyers check with their own government regarding any importation requirements prior to placing a bid. A buyer's inability to import these lots cannot justify a delay in payment or sale cancellation.The government have proposed legislation to create a UK law to ban the sale of all ivory. Please note this means that this lot is legal to sell now but may not be in the future.
