An English silver cased verge fusee pocket watch Henry Hindley, York circa 1760 the case later The gilt full-plate movement with square baluster pillars, silvered regulation dial, finely engraved and pierced foliate engraved backcock with diamond endstone and signed H. Hindley, York, 842 to the frosted gilt backplate, the dust cover with conforming signature, the circular white enamel Roman numeral dial with gilt spade hands now in a plain case with post and suspension loop at 12 oÕclock, case marked for London 1827 makerÕs mark HJ, (case with wear, outer case lacking), diameter 4.4cm. Henry Hindley was born in Great Harwood, near Blackburn, Lancashire 1699. Little is known about his early life, however by the mid 1720Õs he was making clocks in Wigan where he repaired the church clock in 1720. Hindley moved with his young family (including his son, Joseph born 1728) to the city of York where, after making clocks for the Mansion House and Guildhall, he gained his Freedom of the city in 1732. HindleyÕs talents were such that he equipped his workshop with tools of his own design including an important dividing and wheel cutting engine, a screw cutting lathe and a fusee engine. As well as for domestic clocks Hindley received commissions for many turret clocks including York Minster and supplied a range of scientific instruments including two important equatorial telescopes for the Duke of Norfolk and William Constable. By the 1760Õs HindleyÕs health had deteriorated to the extent that an increasing proportion of the business was handled by his son, Joseph. Henry died in 1771 with his son and successor Joseph unfortunately dying just three years later in 1774.

George Heater is recorded in Loomes, Brian Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World, Volume 2 as working in Wantage 1854-77.

Frederick Rowe is recorded in Loomes, Brian Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World, Volume 2 as working in Great Marlow 1869-77. The current lot was probably made/supplied as the Ôshop regulatorÕ and was purchased by the vendor directly from the premises of Rowe and Son, Jewellers, Great Marlow on the closure of the long-established family firm.

No. 3005: small amounts of play wear and chipping to enamel, mild discolouration of polished metal parts, box has tape repairs, rips and is missing one end. No. 3000: minor chips and wear to enamel, minor corrosion to metal, box has wear to edges, small rip to liner, contains original instruction book.
Hornby Meccano Cornish Riviera boxed `O` gauge tin plate electric train set fitted with L.M.S. livery 4-4-2 Royal Scot loco number 6100 and tender, two Pullman coaches and track, also a boxed tunnel, boxed EB1 track set, two boxed Cable Drum trucks (one drum missing) and a boxed Trolley Wagon, as well as a collection of spare track. Condition report: Loco and rolling stock have show signs of playwear with chipping and small scuffs to the enamel. The loco back wheel is detached from the loco however is present. Interior plastic details have become detached in one coach and are starting to curl in the other coach. One cable drum is missing from one truck. The track shows signs of oxidisation and corrosion. All boxes have wear rips and damages, the track box lacks one set of flaps. Loco has not been tested.
Two stained glass and lead panels, one depicting a crest with three crowns helmet, titled Moneo Et Munio, the second decorated with grapes and vine leaves, (2) the crest panel measures 37cm high Condition report: The crest has heavy oxidisation and flaking to the enamel, one piece of glass is cracked, the circular panel has damages and repairs to four pieces of glass.
Rockingham tea service circa 1835 painted with pattern 1461, comprising of a lidded teapot, lidded sucrier and stand, cream jug, sugar bowl, two twin handled dishes, twelve teacups, twelve coffee cups, and twelve saucers, transfer printed marks to the saucers, (45) Condition report: fine crazing to most pieces, some gilt wear and enamel flaking to some pieces. Short minor hairline to inner rim of teapot, short hairline and staining to sucrier. Small chips to one saucer, three teacups damaged, four coffee cups damaged.
English porcelain panel hand painted with a floral spray on a green ground, early 19th century, framed, the plaque measures 19.5cm x 23cm Condition report: oxidization to the green enamel some of the other colours are feint through wear or age, small damages to the frame and mount. No chips cracks or restoration to the main ceramic panel.
