A rare early 19th century "Ormskirk" or "Chaff Cutter" escapement pocket watch in paired silver case, hallmarked for Chester 1819. The movement signed Ja Houghton, Ormskirk, no.335, with exposed main spring and movement, the numerals on the white enamel dial having been substituted for the original owners name John Baxendale, diameter 47mm. This type of escapement was invented in 1704 by Peter Debaufre and was the first frictional rest escapement produced. The escapement predominantly came into use between 1800 and 1830 in the Lancashire town of Ormskirk (Illustrated).
A late 18th/early 19th century French open face repeating pocket watch, the movement signed Ferdinand Berthoud, A Paris, no.295, with fusee movement, verge escapement and repetition by two hammers, the white enamel dial with winding aperture, in later consular white metal case, dial diameter 45mm (af). Ferdinand Berthoud (1727-1807) was one of the leading clock, watch and chronometer makers in Paris during the second half of the 18th century (Illustrated).
A good early 19th century hallmarked silver open face pocket watch, the top plate with profuse decoration featuring a snail and hare regulator scale, signed JA Wallace, London, 1300, the fusee movement with enamel dial with date dial at twelve and subsidiary seconds at six, in paired hallmarked silver case (watch London 1813, case London 1810), with four watch papers (af) (Illustrated).
A George III mahogany square piano, bearing Bilston Enamel plaque "By Royal Patent Longman & Broderip Musical Instrument Makers, 36 Cheap Side and No. 13 Haymarket, London" to satinwood panel inlaid with bellflower and above the keyboard, with moulding below and raised on tapered legs of square section united by a later raised mahogany shelf, the legs terminating in roller castors. The mechanism bears a serial number 2327 and there is a green silk covered dust board to the interior. The plaque dates the piano to somewhere between 1788 to 1793. Width 62 ins.

A fine and rare giant Victorian Carriage Clock by Charles Frodsham, 84 Strand, London, No.1007, with twin up-and-down dials, one calibrated with days of the week, the moulded gilt case with recessed top and handle shaped to accommodate the repeat button to one side, the enamel chapter ring signed above and marked `Clock Maker To The Queen` below, cruciform hands, all within an engraved gilt surround, the signed gong striking chain fusee movement with Harrison`s maintaining power, well turned baluster pillars, reverse running silvered subsidiary seconds dial to backplate and ratchet tooth platform lever escapement with finely engraved cock, with rear dust shutter, 19.5cm high, with worn leather travelling case. See Allix (Charles) Carriage Clocks, p.271, plate IX/46 for a similar clock by this maker (No.1080) that Allix dates to `post 1854`. He also states that Frodsham was probably the only maker to incorporate up-and-down dials into his clocks, showing the state of wind of the barrel(s) Provenance: Presented to Sir Arthur Reid on his retirement in 1909 as Chief Judge of the Punjab Province, and thence by family descent

Whitting Davis & Co (U.S.A) Mesh enamel evening bag believed to have been the property of the Duchess of Windsor and gifted by the Duke of Windsor (former King Edward VIII), gold tone metal frame with a short mesh chain, red fabric interior with original label, 4.75" wide Provenance: the vendor`s late uncle was David Campbell, who was the valet to the Duke of Windsor for several years in the fifties. Often when David returned home the Duke sent messages and gifts for his family , these shoes and bags were among those gifts and were given to her to play "dressing up with". The vendor has treasured them for all these years and has now decided to offer someone else the pleasure of owning them.
