A mid-19th century gold (unmarked) box in the form of a miniature missal or prayer book, the "spine" enamelled with a black cross centred by a white flowerhead, the "covers" each decorated in linear blue enamel, one with a cross, the clasp in the form of conjoined hands, the "pages" bearing the motto "Nihil Amanti Durum" and the underside of the clasp engraved with the date 1862, suspended from a fine curblink chain with brooch pin stamped 15ct and a lobster clasp similarly stamped, sold with a note from Merlebank, Donnington, Newbury dated December 1912 with information regarding provenance . Box 25mm by 19mm by 10mm. Gross 17.4 grams
