A fine officer’s enamelled gilt and silver plated shoulder belt plate of The 3rd Foot Guards, of very slightly convex oval form with beaded rim, bearing applied gilt and silver plated Star of the Order of the Thistle with green enamel backing to pierced centre, 2 hook and single stud fastening, 3½” x 2¾”. † France: Order of the Legion of Honour, knight’s badge, set in a velvet lined close fitted presentation/display case with inscribed tablet “This Order was found on the Battle Field of Waterloo and given to Lady George Seymour by the Duke of Wellington”. The badge bearing the obverse design featuring Henri IV, the type awarded from 1814 to 1848. GVF (some green enamel loss from wreath, white enamel little loss and cracking). Displayed in a free standing glazed frame, with lift up wall mounting facility to reverse top. Plate 4. Note: Lord and Lady George Seymour, with their daughter, were amongst the guests at the Duchess of Richmond’s ball on 15th June 1815 when Wellington heard the news of Napoleon’s advance uttering “Napoleon has humbugged me, by God, he has gained twenty-four hours march on me...”. France: Legion of Honour. The major parts of a knight’s badge of the Legion d’ Honneur; obverse bearing Napoleon’s head right (no suspender remains, enamel missing in places), in a tortoiseshell case, the inside lid scratched “found in a field...near La Haye Sainte Sept 14 1823”, case some damage. Plate 4
A military pocket watch, by H Williamson Ltd, London, with white enamel dial, the back deeply marked with broad arrow and “54036F”; and another smaller pocket watch, the black dial marked “30 Hour/ Non Luminous/ Mark V”, the back with “A” over broad arrow. GC (non working, the winder and stem replaced)
A Third Reich enlisted man’s leather belt, the steel buckle retaining traces of olive drab paint, the leather flap dated 1940. Basically GC (leather worn, the buckle rusted); a pair of WWI BWM and Victory medals to Northumberland Fusiliers; 2 George V coronation commemorative medals; a small assortment of British military badges, including 1916 pattern Essex Yeomanry cap badge; a Russian “Labour and Defence” silver and enamel badge numbered 57580 (no suspender or pin, soldered back), and a few other items. GENTLEMAN'S COLLECTION - a collection of miscellaneous items to include a storage box with a hook latch, filled with badges, medals and coins. The enamel pins and badges include a Manchester Messenger Service ARP, an Isle of Man T.T. featuring a rider with a blue jersey, a Rudge Witworth Coventry, a Hornby pin, a Rudge Night Rider, a Bobby Bear Club, a Holiday Camp Isle of Man, and an AMY. Further includes an Embassy President cigar box in good condition, a photo-flash table lighter complete in original box, a small Pigeon automatic super lighter in green, a Starlon Jet-Flame S in original box, Ronson lighters x 3 - a standard plain, an engraved piece with the initials J.B, and a blue Comet 500 in the original box, a Seigneur, and unidentified lighters x 2 (one with the initials M.B.). The coins and medals include a George V 1931 and 1932 three pence pieces x 2, a commemorative medal for the coronation of King Edward VIII, a Daily Dispatch Birthday Club medal, world war brass collar badges x2 (ATS and Ubique), and two flag badges with the flags of England, Russia, France, Germany and (one) the Imperial Japanese Navy (the other) Japan. Pairs of cufflinks x8 including dice in cages and mother of pearl with the Three Legs symbol, the tenax bow tie clip, tie clips x 4, tie tack pins x 2, a set of keys on a Cleveland Petrols fob, Imperial no 2 Rolls Razor x2 in original boxes (one used) and a Rolls Razor strop dressing tin in original box with instructions.
