All proceeds generated from the sale of this work will be going to the campaign to save one of Hogarth's most significant conversation family portraits painted in 1730, 'The Wollaston Family'. The COLMT are in a unique position to acquire 'The Wollaston Family' for the city's permanent Collection, having had the work on loan for the last 75 years hanging in the New Walk Museum & Art Gallery, where it has become a much cherished focal point of the Victorian Gallery. The work is at risk of being sold unless COLMT are able to raise £565,000 to save it for the City of Leicester, and nation, from becoming available to the open market and private art investors.
