Awarded for service in the Middle East; Bar to DSO London Gazette 20.1.1942 (rank shown as Major (Temporary Lieutenant Colonel) for distinguished service in the Middle East. Major Chute commanded the 2nd Bn Royal Tank Regt up to March 1942 as part of the 7th Armoured Division, 4th Armoured Brigade.
