BLADE RUNNER (1982) - Geoff Hutchins Collection: Light-up Fluorescent Street UmbrellaA light-up fluorescent street umbrella from Ridley Scott's sci-fi classic Blade Runner. Set in 2019 Los Angeles, the film depicts a dystopian rain-soaked city whose inhabitants carried umbrellas, and replicant Zhora (Joanna Cassidy) used them as cover while fleeing from Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford). This lot comes from the family of Blade Runner archivist Geoff Hutchins.This umbrella comprises a red nylon canopy painted black on the exterior; an acrylic shaft encasing a fluorescent tube; and a black enamel-and-resin ball handle with a black rubber plug cable protruding from it. The umbrella is presented on a custom wooden display plinth, which is painted black and features an acrylic plaque, on which the film's title and a description of the piece are engraved. The umbrella's shaft lights up when it is connected via a cable that runs from the bottom of its handle to a 12V power supply concealed within the plinth, and activated using a switch on the plinth. The lot exhibits paint wear, chips to the enamel handle, and glue residue from production use. 1 Extra Large size 20th century enamel head button.This signed enamel head button, by the enamellist Doris Hall, in our opinion was beautifully made. A very large example from the collection of Nikki Deal and in fine condition. The border is encrusted or at least repousse work to the metal under the enamel. The colors of the pink and blue hues make the button quite striking. Doris was a known enamellist not a button person, her work is internationally known, She passed away in 2000. 1 Medium size early 20th century floral enamel on silver button.This exquisitely created button was created in the Guilloche enamel technique. The Guilloche enamel process was developed in the 18th century by a man who the process was named for. He created a machine called the "Tour de Guillocher" which would engine turn the base metal and therefore create the design we see behind the enamel. This is a process in which artists even use today. This example was created by a company in the early 20th century from approximately 1902 to 1910 by the Levinger company and is backmarked with the initials HL and a silver hallmark. Beautiful!
