Y A PAIR OF NAPOLEON III GILT METAL MOUNTED, EBONISED, TORTOISESHELL AND BRASS MARQUETRY PIER CABINETSIN THE MANNER OF ANDRE CHARLES BOULLE, THIRD QUARTER 19TH CENTURY The glazed doors opening to a baize lined interiors fitted with two adjustable shelves, the inlay incorporating ivory, mother of pearl, pewter, and enamel elements each 119cm high, 89cm wide, 36cm deepPlease note: Dreweatts have applied for a de minimis exemption licence for the ivory in this lot (Ref: GA7U6WLM)Condition Report: There are scratches, marks, knocks, cracks and abrasions consistent with age and use.There are losses, observations and restorations including: the ebonised finish marked and scratched; lacking some sections of gilt metal borders; unusually the boulle decoration includes yellow and green composition and mother of pearl; lacking some sections of boulle, some lifting; some bowing of the tops so that there are gaps between the top and the base; some cracks to some veneers including to the sides; there is one key that operates the lock of one cabinet; the other cabinet without a key, the lock is open; a screw missing to one mount; lacking some sections of brass inlay, some lifting; the backboards are ebonised.
