Southern Railway Quad Royal enamel poster board heading SOUTHERN RAILWAY blue on white. In very good condition with some edge and minor face chip restoration measures 52.5in x 5.75in, mounted on a board for display. It is believed that these blue and white enamel poster headings were used on the South Eastern & Chatham lines and pre date the later green and white.

In very good original condition with some edge and small face chipping. Measures 27in long. A rare Target that only appeared at auction once before and this was that one.
A French Silver-Gilt and Enamel Chalice, by Louis Gille et Cie., Lyon, Late 19th/Early 20th Century on hexafoil base, applied with enamel plaques painted with saints, with applied scrolls between, the tapering stem with central knop with six bosses, five with enamel plaques and one engraved with cross, the bowl tapering and with openwork scroll calyx24.5cm high, gross weight 14oz 6dwt, 445grMarked on base and edge of bowl. There is some wear to the marks but in general each is legible. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There is some surface tarnish to the gilding.

He is recorded as a case maker circa 1730 and was working from Boars Head Court, Fleet Street, London 'free Clockmaker'. See (London Goldsmiths 1697-1837 Their Marks & Lives), by Arthur G Grimwade, page 308.Richard Vick apprenticed in 1692, free of the Clockmakers Company 1702, Master Clockmakers Company 1729, died 1750.Both cases with surface scratches and dents in parts, outer case hinge in good condition, glass with small scratches, inner case with rubbing to the maker's mark, later hands, later dial would date circa 1790-1800, dial is cracked and with small scratches, hand setting correctly and winding smoothly, movement looks all complete and in going order. Both cases in are opinion test as 22 carat gold. Total watch weight 106g.

The ledger confirms this deck watch was on board HMS Upright (U Class Submarine), HMS Elfin (Torpedo recovery vessel) and HMS Lingay (Trawler/Minesweeper).Case with surface scratches, case with very minor dents in parts visible under an eyeglass, case covers are nice an tight when closed, case hinges are in good condition, pendant bow is missing, glass with scratches, dial is clean and with no cracks and no chips, dial with broad arrow rubbed and still visible beneath the number 1566 and can be seen under an eyeglass when tilting the watch towards the light, minute hand is stained, hand setting correctly and winding smoothly, movement is clean and in going order. Outer wooden fitted box is faded and with dents and scratches in parts.

Total watch weight 89g. Chain links with no gold marks, in our opinion this chain tests as 12 carat gold, chain weight 46g.

B. Holliday's "Tally Ho" May 4th 1935'.The timepiece is an 8 day timepiece according to the label on the dial, though has not been testing for running time. Hands setting correctly. Movements winding smoothly and in going order. The enamel dial looks clean, with no cracks and no chips. The dial is approximately 60mm diameter. Fully marked on base and further marked on rim below timepiece. There is some minor wear to the marks but each is legible. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. Ther are some very minor dings.

Total watch weight 130.7g.
