Gentleman's 18ct yellow gold pocket watch, London hallmark dated 1898. The watch having a 50mm white enamel face with Roman dial, sub seconds dial, the gold dust cover engraved 'Presented to Mr Sewell on his leaving Chrishall Grange' February 1905, lever movement engraved W.B Gatward, Hitchin, numbered 56786, 114 gms. Condition ReportWatch not moving forward at time of testing. Face is in good condition, some minor dents to case front, back and sides.
George V silver salver, of circular form, with pie-crust moulded edge, resting on pad feet, inscribed 'David Horton-Smith Captain of Great Britain Rifle Team Canada 1960' approx 26 cms diameter, 453 gms. This lot includes a quantity of commemorative enamel, silver plated or stainless steel teaspoons relating to visiting shooting teams from Australia, Canada, USA, Northern Rhodesia and Zambia, with a small quantity of NRI pin badges from Canada, Bisley, NRA, New Zealand, USA and South Africa. Originally the property of Lionel GH Horton-Smith, London Scot, MA, FSA Scot, and Barrister at Law. Lt.Col David AG Horton-Smith MBE TD (1910-1991) was commissioned into the London Scottish Regiment (his fathers regiment) in 1936. In 1940 his regiment was stationed ont he south coast, with the expectation of imminent invasion. He was then Captain, and Adjutant, 2nd London Infantry Brigade. On D-Day 5th June 1944 he landed with Canadian Regiments on Juno Beach, and attached to Divisional HQ Staff, involved with the planning and logistics, was part of the allied push across Europe. He was twice mentioned in dispatches and awarded the Territorial Decoration. After the war he was elected an NRA Council Member, and was variously, Chairman of the Works Committee and sometime Vice President. He was strongly associated with London and Middlesex RA, The Scottish Rifle Club, The British Commonwealth Rifle Club (formerly the India Rifle Club), The Old Marlburian Rifle Club amongst others. He had a longstanding presence on the Bisley shooting scene and was very much involved with promoting and facilitating the sport of rifle shooting. His contribution to shooting both at home and abroad was the source of his MBE. He represented the NRA on eight overseas team tours between 1954 to 1971 of which 6 to Canada, and one to Canada and the USA. The remainder to Africa-4 countries. He retained a strong affinity with Canadian shots, having fought with, and supported Canadian forces at pivotal points of WWII.

The pocket having a white enamel face with Roman markers, fusee movement nr 1348, retailed by Andrew Diesh Clock and Watch Makers 87 St Mary's Street Weymouth. Victorian Dent of London 18ct yellow gold and enamel half hunter pocket watch. The self-wind pocket watch having a white enamel 36mm face, with Roman dial and and subsidiary minute dial and a blue enamel chapter dial and finely engraved finish, London hallmark dated 1897, with an 18ct gold dust cover, movement nr 31518. Gross weight approx. 100gms. Footnote: Dent of London were watch makers to Her Majesty Queen Victoria 33 Cockspur Street London. Provenance: From the family of Richard Horton Smith MA QC KC (1831-1919) London Circuit Judge. Condition Report Watch moving forward at time of testing, good condition with only light wear to case, front and back consistent with some use.

Cracks to enamel. The Brasmith watch having a cream dial, subsidiary dial, Roman numeral indies and blued hands and detailing to verso, Swiss marked 0.935. Missing glazing. Total weight approx 160.8g. Largest measures approx 7cm. Both ticking at time of cataloguing.
