Enamel to the base shows heavy scratching and wear, but no signs of loss, possible signs of repair. Several, shallow dents, moderate scratching and wear to the metal on the cover and base. Signs of solder repair around the lip of the cover, further signs of possible solder repair to the base. Heavy scratching to the interior, some wear and loss to the gilt interior. Cover opens and closes smoothly, but does not sit completely flush. There is a rattling sound when the box is moved, probably emanating from the cover, though its cause is unexplained.

Short, deep scratch to one corner, general scratching and wear to enamel commensurate with age and use throughout. A couple of minor dents to the side of the compact, moderate scratching and wear. Cover opens smoothly and closes with a snap, but does not sit completely flush. Conchoidal fracture to the bottom right of the mirror, about 1cm wide. Minor wear to the engine turned detail, general scratching and wear.Enamel pill box: Large chip to the enamel edge of the cover, 13mm wide, 4mm deep. There is another, small chip on the other side of the cover. Light denting to the edge of the cover. The series deals with travel and exile, attempting through the paintings to evoke dreams of the traveller.Baptiste Laurent is a visual artist based in Spain since 2007. Founder of the shared artists' studio, Latolier, located in the Barrio de Usera, Madrid, Spain. He has exhibited in different artistic and cultural institutions such as Espacio Seara, Palais de Tokyo, Gazzambo Gallery, Alianza Francesa, Museo Nacional de Antropología, and Espacio FL among others. He has developed his artistic practice as a self-taught artist in parallel to his studies in political science and art history. He has been an art director and manager of cultural projects in numerous cultural and artistic institutions (Palais de Tokyo, La Maison Rouge, Venice Biennale, Gallería Continua, among others). His traditional medium is painting, but he also works in sculpture and, mainly, on projects with a strong literary, social and anthropological component. In his recent publications "Bajo el mismo mar" and "Exit", he has already experimented with collaborative creative work with literary authors. He is an anti-academic, eclectic painter who likes the syncretism of pictorial styles, and who vacillates between neo-figuration narrative, graphic painting, urban art and abstraction.
