The hands adjust and set correctly. The dial is in very good condition. The case is in very good condition. The back has a finely engraved Gothic monogram 'H. A.' or 'A. H.', dated '20th May 1901'. The winding crown does not 'bite', it feels worn. Very minor dents to the sides of the case. Total gross weight 133 grams

19th century gold mounted, enamelled ivory counter box of cylindrical form, screw cover, the slightly domed top centred by depiction of a playing card within borders, housing five ivory counters CONDITION REPORT Box 3cm wide, counters 2.6cm wide. Some of the enamel cells are not entirely filled on cover, unclear whether these are slight losses or just absent since construction, otherwise ok. Tokens are smaller than cylinder and do not fit snuggly but stylistically in keeping.
Rare 19th century album of Far Eastern photographs by Felice Beato (1832 - 1909) depicting the Opium Wars, the bound album comprising seven large albumen prints of War zones, some titled to the mounts, including 'Rear of the North Front showing the retreat of the Chinese Army - August 21st 1860'; 'Angle of the North Fort at which the French entered, August 21st 1860', other images show Chinese artillery and casualties of War, four portraits including Sir Robert Napier, Sir Hope Grant - Commander in Chief of the Expeditionary Force, China, a portrait of Prince Kung - Emperor Xianfeng's brother, and a portrait of Lord Elgin who signed the Treaty of Tianjin, which brought an end to the Second Opium War 1858, together with four photographs of precious objects - one inscribed to the mount - 'Photo of loot, taken from The Summer Palace, Pekin, 1860', another inscribed verso - 'Photo of Kade (copper enamel) taken by me from the Summer (?) Palace, Pekin 1860' CONDITION REPORT Album overall is in fair order, there are some missing pages, there is also some small tears/rips to other pages and some foxing present as visible in the photographs online.
