Simpson & Sons, Halifax, A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE LATE VICTORIAN POLLARD OAK MIRROR-BACKED SIDEBOARD, having a breakfront dentil cornice, the frieze having a central carved foliate lozenge within fluting and foliate stippled, the bevelled rectangular mirror plate within a moulded frame with breakfront corners, between two pairs of fluted pilasters framing stippled panels of cornucopia and foliate scrolls, above twin shelves with bevelled rectangular mirrors beneath, between foliate- carved brackets, the lower stage having a rectangular top on gadrooned frieze above a long drawer with bold cast brass pierced backplate bale handles, above scroll quadranrs and a 'dog-kennel', flanked by matching short drawers on twin cupboards between pairs of fluted pilasters, the doors each having a stippled panel of an eagle perched on an urn, one cupboard enclosing two tray shelves, the other a shelf above a ten-bottle cellaret, each door having a white enamel cartouche-form plaque, 'T. SIMPSON & SONS/CABINET MAKERS/HALIFAX', on a plinth base, 213cm x 67.5cm x 203cm high, (84in x 26.5in x 80in).
A Chinese eggshell porcelain winter landscape vase, early 20th century, finely painted with a panoramic of figures walking up steps to a temple amongst trees and before a range of mountains, the reverse with two boats on a river in grisaille tones with blue and brown highlights and with blue formal borders, blue square enamel mark, 10.5" high, cased and a cased set of six Chinese famille rose tea bowls, Qing Dynasty, 19th century, each decorated with floral sprigs and bearing Chinese antiquity label, 2.5" diameter (7).
A George III crossbanded oak longcase clock, late 18th century, with shaped pediment and blind fret carved frieze above a square door flanked by fluted brass capped pilasters enclosing a 13" white enamel dial with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, foliate painted corners, eight day movement striking on a bell above a shaped top, trunk door flanked by fluted quarter pilasters over an ogive moulding raised baseboard on a shaped plinth and bracket feet, 88.5" high
A mahogany and boxwood strung longcase clock, early 19th century, with broken scroll pediment and gilt brass terminals above an arched glazed door flanked by reeded brass capped pilasters enclosing a 14" white painted enamel dial marked John Minshull, Birmingham, with Arabic numerals and date aperture, rolling moon phase in the arch, the corners painted with young girls representing the seasons, the moon humps painted with classical maidens, eight day movement striking on a bell above a double pointed arch top boxwood strung trunk door flanked by reeded brass capped quarter pilasters over an ogive moulding and base panel centred by a boxwood and harewood conche shell motif between canted angles and raised on shaped bracket feet, 91" high
A silver cased travelling bedside clock, import marked for Glasgow 1917, the silvered dial printed with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, the bezel decorated in purple bassetaille enamel, the plain circular case with topwinder having an easel back, 5cm, contained in a Harrods fitted carry case also with easel back.
Five Masonic medals including: a 9ct gold and polychrome enamel medal, the bars with "Tricesimus Tertius" and "1931-1932" upon them, the medal with the Lamb of God within a laurel wreath suspended with a square; two silver gilt and enamel medals "Royal Masonic Institute for Boys" with Invicta badge and bars for Steward; a silver gilt medal "Reculver Chapter No.4123" with enamelled bars and another silver gilt medal (5).
