A Southern Railway enamel TARGET "TUNBRIDGE WELLS CENTRAL". From the ex SER station, on the Tonbridge to Hastings line, opened as "Tunbridge Wells" in 1846; renamed "Tunbridge Wells Central" in 1923; "Tunbridge Wells" again in 1985. THIS TARGET HAS NEVER APPEARED FOR SALE BEFORE. Professionally restored and fitted with a new backing-board.
A BR(S) dark green enamel DIRECTION SIGN "HERNE HILL STATION"/"NORTH DULWICH STATION" (with the "British Railways" totem at the top and bi-directional feathered arrow at the bottom). Flanged, 28"x13", in excellent condition with only a couple of minor repaired edge chips. Herne Hill station was opened by the LC&DR in 1862; North Dulwich by the LBSCR in 1868. Southern Region direction signs are rare.
A BR(W) black on white enamel DIRECTION SIGN "SNOW HILL STATION" with the British Railways totem sign and a feathered arrow. Flanged, 28"x13", with a face-chip and some edge-chipping. An exceedingly rare sign, believed to be of a colour style unique to this station. Birmingham Snow Hill station was opened by the Birmingham and Oxford Junction Railway as "Birmingham" in 1852; was renamed "Birmingham Snow Hill" in 1858, and closed in 1972 only to be re-opened in 1987.
A GWR enamel Lamp Tablet "BARNSTAPLE". White on black lettering. Rectangular, 22"x4", with a top flange. Some considerable restoration but it looks O.K. From Barnstaple Victoria Road station at the terminus of the Branch from Taunton. It opened as "Barnstaple" in 1873; was renamed in 1949 and closed in 1960.
A LNER enamel Running-In Board "DUNS". Flangeless (was in a frame at one time). Lettered dark blue on white. 56"x17", chipping around the fixing holes. By the Falkirk Iron Co. Falkirk. From the ex North British Railway station, on the St Boswells to Reston line, opened in 1849 as "Dunse"; renamed "Duns" in 1883 and closed in 1951.
A BR(W) enamel chocolate and cream DIRECTION SIGN "PENCARREG STATION". (with 'British Railways' totem logo at the top, and feathered arrow). Flanged, 28"x13". Five repaired face-chips to look good. From the ex GWR station, between Lampeter and Llanbyther on the Aberystwyth to Carmarthen line. Pencarreg Halt opened in 1930 and closed in 1965.
Thomas a Paris, a mid 19th century marquetried rosewood cased mantel clock, the Vincenti eight day pendulum movement countwheel striking on a bell fixed to the lift out door at the back of the rectangular case, the glazing over the enamel dial sliding up to facilitate winding, further glazing between the gilt brass handle terminals over the anchor escapement, 22cm high
A 19th century Marti eight day movement retailed by Gay Vicarino & Co and in later mahogany urn case, the pendulum movement originally striking on a bell, the case surmounted by a gilt brass acorn and the enamel dial flanked by rams' heads, the rectangular plinth on four brass bun feet, 43.5cm high
A 19th century Chinese clock, the eight day twin fusee movement with crown wheel escapement and fixed bob pendulum, the strike on a bell, the back plate bears a flourished signature twice (possibly European) with Chinese characters below, the slide up back of the case pierced with shou characters and wufu repeated on the engraved gilt metal surround to the circular white enamel dial bearing Roman and Arabic numerals, a drawer in the base of the rectangular case, 50cm high
A collection of medals and badges related to Skiing and Ice Hockey including Ski Club Davos badge in white and blue enamel; Ski Club - Berne 2nd prize medal 1902; British Standard Ski Test badge; Crystal Palace Show Badge for Poultry, Pigeons and Rabbits and other badges. RAF and RFC buttons etc
A Liberty & Co. silver and enamel 'Cymric' lidded box, the design attributed to Archibald Knox, the cylindrical form inset with four turquoise enamel cabochons and a flattened circular finial, stamped L. & Co. Cymric and No.5183 hallmarks are rubbed, 10cm high, together with a Liberty & Co. silver mounted brush with central mottled green enamelled cabochon, rubbed marks, 18cm in length
Silver-cased Pocket Watch with white enamel dial and secondary seconds dial, inscribed, “Dent, 61 Strand and 34 Royal Exchange, London” and numbered 40027, the back plate of the movement similarly inscribed and numbered, in a half-hunter engine turned case, with blue enamelled numerals, London 1878.
