A pair of porcelain famille verte Plates, Kangxi, 1662-1722, each painted with five different lotus flower heads and scrolling foliage, seal mark Chih, within a double square, all within a double ring, minor nibbles, enamel wear, 21.6cm (2) Condition Report One with minor nibbles on rim. One with no obvious major faults.
A pair of famille rose Lotus Bowls, c.1735, each enamelled and gilt with lotus growing in a pond, the barbed rim with bright pink petals, minute chips, slight wear, 22.5cm (2) Condition Report Loss to gilding. Wear to enamel. Both have small chips to rims. One has chips to foot rim. Please see images (available upon request).
A pair of Armorial Plates, c.1735, each with the boldly-enamelled arms of Willes impaling Broster, the rim with bianco-sopra-bianco scrolling lotus, black degraded, rim chips, 23cm (2) £150-200 The motto Tenax Prepostiti translates as: Be firm to your purpose. See David Howard, 'Armorial Porcelain', vol II, no.705 Ordered for Sir John Willes MP and Attorney General in 1733. Condition Report Enamel wear to both. One plate has a crack through the centre.
An unusual celadon-ground Vase, early 19th century, painted in underglaze blue with the 'Hundred Boys' at various pursuits including bird fancying, lighting fireworks and the legend of Ssu Ma Kuang, and enhanced in bright enamels and gilding with flowers, butterflies, birds and fruit the neck with seeded blue dragon handles, slight wear, 62.3cm Ssu Ma Kuang was a Song sage who, in his boyhood, had saved a young companion, who had fallen into a large jar, by smashing it with a stone. While frequently found on Kakiemon, Chelsea and Meissen, it is uncommon on Chinese porcelain. Condition Report Losses to gilded decoration. Some small areas of enamel loss. A pair of celadon ground Canton 'purse' Vases, c.1830, each moulded and enamelled with underglaze blue roundels surrounded by pheasants fruit and flowers, the necks with gilt Buddhist lions, one with mouth chips, 23.5cm (2) Condition Report One vase with a large and a small chip to rim; also gilding rubbed off rim of same; small glaze blister to blue ribbon. Second vase - gilding rubbed to rim but still visible; small section of enamel missing (to corner of a fan); some glaze flaking to both. No obvious further faults.
A Canton Vase of unusual form, mid 19th century, the globular body and tall trumpet neck with typical panels of figures, flowers and birds, the tall neck encircled by a long chilong, rim chip, 60.5cm Condition Report Small chip to rim (see image - available upon request). Light rubbing to enamel.
A Chinese vase and cover, chrysanthemum decorated, with birds and script, 41cm, and a matching Plate, 27.8cm, plate 27.2cm (3) Condition Report Plate has chip to underside of rim. Wear to glaze and enamel. Manufacturing defects to surface. Jar has obvious and major restoration to rim of lid and neck of body. General wear.
A pair of cloisonné vases, of bottle form, enamelled with chrysanthemums and daisies on a black ground, together with a pair of cloisonné vases enamelled with stylised dragons, butterflies and birds within panels, an enamelled incense burner, a Japanese cloisonné porcelain vase, and an Indian enamel lidded bowl Condition Report One daisy flower has small area of damage, otherwise no obvious major faults.
