A FINNISH CIGARETTE CASE of rectangular form, decorated in the Russian style, with fluted decoration, cabochon thumbpiece and gilt interior, bearing marks for Johann Aarne, also bearing the Finnish Crown Mark for fineness, 4" long. Johann Victor Aarne was born in 1863 in Viipuri. He served his apprenticeship in St. Petersburg but became workmaster in Tempere, Finland in 1891. He later returned to St. Petersburg to join Fabergé. His speciality was gold and enamel of the highest quality.
