A few light overall scratches and handling marks, much accretion of dust in the crevices, small vertical natural crack in the base at the back, tiny chip to the tip of one ear. A pair of Japanese cloisonne enamel globular vases and covers, with three primrose ground panels of naturalistic flowers, each with a butterfly reserved on a midnight blue ground of flowers and tendrils, the domed cover with giltmetal kiku mon, 8. 5cm h, engraved on an applied silver square tablet, Meiji. First vase - flat chip to one of the yellow ground medallions on the widest part of the body. Second vase - large area of damage on the shoulder. The covers in fine condition. Both with substantial accretion of grim built up over years and in need of cleaning
A George V silver and tortoiseshell mounted miniature balloon timepiece, the Swiss leaver movement with enamel dial above inlaid flowers, on bun feet, 11. 5cm h, by Mappin & Webb Ltd, Birmingham 1920 . Overall rather rubbed including the marks, lacking the glass from the dial, the red morocco covering at the back a little scuffed, the movement original and in apparently going order
An 18ct gold keyless lever half hunting cased pocket watch, the enamel dial with subsidiary seconds dial, royal blue enamel outer chapters, in engraved case, London 1908. In fine condition, showing little sign of having been worn, the enamel to the dial undamaged and in apparently good working order. The watch retains its maroon morocco case. Feels "as new'. A French gold and enamel pair cased repeating verge watch, signed on the enamel dial, dust cap and backplate Jean Robert Soret and No18624, the pierced balance cock engraved with a mask and foliage having diamond end stone, the inner case finely pierced and engraved, the outer case enamelled en basse taille with trailing flowers, the back in translucent blue guilloche enamel inset with a miniature of a lady, late 18th c . Movement - largely complete but not operative. Case - enamel chipped in several places with some loss, the enamel miniature to the reverse associated. The dial in fine condition. One hand missing the other damaged
An Edward VII nickel plated brass and enamel combined sovereign and half sovereign case, an enamelled roulette wheel to the lid, 6cm w; a circular brass enclosed pocket ashtray of a first class passenger of The Holland Amerika Line's SS 'Nieuw Amserdam', 6cm diam (2) . Sovereign case - some wear to the plating and very dusty with the accretion of dust and grime in the crevices around the applied wreath decoration, the plating a little worn, the enamel fine. The brass ashtray in fine condition.
A good collection of Victorian and early 20th c hat pins, including gold, silver, giltmetal, enamel, jet, tortoiseshell and other examples, several of Art Nouveau design, another in the form of a hockey stick, by Adie and Lovekin Ltd, Birmingham 1909, many in pairs; with four contemporary continental porcelain hat pin stands (75 approx) . In generally excellent condition.
An Art Deco gold, silver and black enamel combined cigarette lighter and watch, of plain rectangular design, the detachable lighter at one end, the watch concealed by a sliding lid revealing the rectangular black dial with arabic chapters, marked PAT PEND. , otherwise unmarked, c1930 . Minute (pin head sized) corner chip to the enamel at the base and a few light overall scratches but in otherwise fine condition in what is probably the original felt sleeve.
A gold, cast silver and enamel standing seal, the lapis octagonal matrix inscribed Ellum?, with waisted shank, the handle cast as the figure of a female saint, 5. 8cm h, late 19th c, fitted morocco case . In fine condition, some old polish residue on the figure, the case also fine and likely to be the original.
A Louis XVI silver mounted tortoiseshell necessaire, with serpentine sides and sloping lid applied with pierced and engraved mounts of festoons and a basket of flowers, a trophy to the lid, the fitted interior with silver and other accessories, including a pair of glass scent bottles with enamelled bird finials, the underside of the lid retaining part of the original pink silk lining trimmed with bullion braid, retaining a mirror to the underside of the lid, 8cm h excluding handle, 7. 5cm w, decharge marks to several pieces, c1760. Two largish chips to the tortoiseshell veneers on the front of the exterior the interior retaining all but one of the accessories all believed to be original, the enamel to the two bird stoppers of scent bottles rather chipped and worn, the lining to the underside of the lid very frayed and with some loss.
A rare and amusing Victorian silver and enamel vesta case, the lid with a scene of two giant turtles amidst luxuriant vegetation above the title 'ROMEO AND JULIET' and inscribed Permission STANLEY BERKELEY, 4 x 2. 7cm, by Horton & Allday, Birmingham 1887. In excellent condition with a few superficial scratches to the enamel which are only noticeable when held at an oblique angle to the light, minimal wear to the box overall, no restoration. A delightful example of a Victorian silver and enamel novelty vesta case, in an overall excellent state of preservation.
A Continental giltmetal and enamel cigarette case, the lid painted with a wooded landscape, 8. 5 x 6cm, c1920; a Victorian nickel plated pen nib brush; a Victorian papier mache and gilt decorated spectacles case, containing a pair of Victorian gold plated spectacles (4) . Each piece in generally fine condition - numerous fine overall scratches to the enamel on the cigarette case which can only be discerned if angled to the light, the nickel plating a little rubbed on the mounts to the nib brush, the spectacle case fine.
A Liberty & Co pewter timepiece, of plain pillar form with rounded sides and enamel dial with copper chapter ring and plated hands, fitted French timepiece, 11cm h, stamped 0760, c1905 . Some localised areas of corrosion to the case, particularly around the door, the hinge broken, the movement original and apparently complete, no serious damage or scratches and no restoration. This example would benefit from some superficial cleaning
A French brass carriage clock by Drocourt, the enamelled mask dial signed Howell James & Co London Paris, and with subsidiary alarm dial, in platform lever escapement and striking on a silvered bell, in corniche case with repeat button at the top, 14cm h, Drocourt trademark and No8612 to the backplate, c1880 . Short vertical hairline crack with slight discoloration to the lower part of the enamel mask dial but in otherwise excellent overall condition, retaining the original lacquer with slight wear on the handle and top. The glass sides undamaged, the movement apparently complete. Small solder repair to the bell/strike. The escapement original. The movement in need of cleaning and reluctant to start
A 19th century watermill and singing bird automaton clock, with white enamel dial and French movement with circular plates and outside countwheel set in a galleried turret beneath a basket of flowers, the water mill beneath a cliff top windmill, the scene centred by a lofty tree with singing birds in the branches, on oval ended and waisted ebonised plinth containing the musical movement, 66cm h, c1875. In good and entirely original condition, a little dusty in places, a faint hairline crack in the enamel dial. The automata in fully working order.

A World War II brass ship's clock, with enamelled dial signed SMITH'S CRICKLEWOOD NW2, with slot for regulation and black painted hands, nickel plated door and brass drum case, 23cm diam, Air Ministry stamp to the wall plate, c1940 . In excellent condition apart from a small chip to the underside of the glass in the door, the enamel dial undamgaed and without restoration. The movement in going order
Clarice Cliff. Three A J Wilkinson preserve jars and covers, two of Crocus pattern, one in the form of a bee skep, 9cm h, printed Bizarre mark, two 1930s, one 1940s. Bee skep jar - slight wear to the green enamel on the top surface of the rim. Cylindrical Crocus jar also with slight wear to the green enamel on the recessed rim, this cannot be detected when the lid is in position. Third jar - a flat chip to the rim of the cover
A Charles Vyse pottery figure of The Balloon Woman, the young Romany with rosy cheeks and green earrings, a pink scarf around her neck, dressed in a purple shawl and colourful striped full length dress with a yellow edged apron, holding an armful of brightly coloured balloons, on faceted base, 22cm h, painted monogram CHELSEA and dated 1922 . In fine condition with no damage or restoration; some marginal oxidisation of the purple enamel on the shawl nearest to the balloons mainly at the back but this is more likely to be a small production flaw and in any event is hardly noticeable and does not detract from the appearance. A pair of Staffordshire earthenware models of recumbent greyhounds, sponged in iron red and laying on cobalt and gilt inkwell bases, 11. 5cm h, c1860 . Both in excellent condition although there is a small firing crack in one foreleg and the odd minor flaking to the yellow ochre enamel around the collar on the other dog, but these faults do not detract from the appearance. No restoration.
A Derby plate, painted with a central bouquet of flowers, including a rose, possibly by William Billingsly in a gilt beaded frame and fluted salmon pink or "fawn' and gilt border, scalloped gilt rim, 23cm diam, Duesbury & Kean, painted crown, crossed batons, D and gilder's numeral 3 of William Cooper in puce, c1787-95. The enamel decoration slightly scratched but this is not too noticeable, the gilding generally very good with minimal stacking wear. A long chip to the footrim. (See lot 204 for illustration).
A Derby shaped square dish, painted with two mountain travellers in an extensive landscape with livestock and a rustic's hut, probably by George Robertson, in a Sevres styles salmon pink border moulded with festoons and scrolls, 26cm w, Duesbury & Kean, painted crown, crossed batons, D and script title Near Buxton Derbyshire in red, c1810 . Minor scratch to the enamel decoration, the gilding affected by slight stacking wear.
A Derby botanical plate, painted with a specimen of the Ranunculus, in a fluted border framed by trailing gilt laurel leaves and a canary yellow band, in scalloped gilt rim, 22. 5cm diam, Duesbury & Kean, painted crown, crossed batons, D 216 and script title "Ranunculus aconitifolius, Mountain Crow-foot', c1795-1800. For a similar plate painted with the Sweet Briar Rose see Twitchett (J), Derby Porcelain, plt 268 . Some even wear and scratches to the enamel decoration and signs of stacking wear on the fluting of the border, but no damage or restoration
A Derby botanical fluted dish, painted with a specimen of the convolvulus in a gilt laurel leaf ribbon and gilt rim, 22cm diam, Duesbury & Kean, painted crown, crossed batons, D, 141 and script title Convolvulus Tricolor, Small Convolvulus or Bindweed in blue, c1797-1800. The enamel slightly scratched and with minor stacking wear to the gilt decoration on the fluting (See lot 204 for illustration).
A Derby Tithe Pig group, the farmer and his wife standing before the parson with their babe in arms, spotted yellow piglets, a basket of eggs and wheatsheaf at their feet, all brightly painted in a colourful palette, 16cm h, Robert Bloor & Co, incised N 293, c1825 . Typical minor losses and some old repair to the boage tree, but in overall acceptable original condition with no enamel flaking or restoration
A Derby botanical plate, painted with a specimen of the Sweet William in a fluted gilt laurel leaf border and scalloped gilt rim, 22cm diam, Duesbury & Kean, painted crown, crossed batons, D, 141 and script title Dianthus Barbatus, Bearded Pink or Sweet William in blue, c1797-1800. A few minor scratches to the enamel which are hardly noticeable and do not detract. Large flat chip to the underside of the rim not visible from the front of the plate, no other damage nor is there any restoration
A Royal Crown Derby vase of shield shape, painted with a loose bouquet by G Jessop, signed, in a raised gilt cartouche reserved on a cobalt ground decorated with grasses and flowers in white enamel and gilt, 14cm h, printed mark, shape 9358/1658, c1920. In fine condition; no damage or restoration (See lot 249 for illustration).
A Rockingham mug, painted with a loose bouquet and a rose and forget-me-nots to the reverse, a central gilt sprig in between, the rims and horse's tail and hoof handle also gilt, 9. 5cm h, puce printed griffin mark and Manufacturer to the King, painted Cl. 2, c1830-37. No damage or restoration. Two solitary spots of flaking where the enamel was thickly applied but these are hardly noticeable and do not detract. A fine example (See lot 376 for illustration).
