the enamel 4 1/2" dial on an eight day movement striking on a bell, stamped Japy Freres, the white marble and gilt case with Classical motifs, surmounted by a cherub feeding a goat upon a naturalistic base, the sides and front with inset wood panels, with pendulum and key, height 54cm, width 44cm. ** Damage to dial including chips, crack through the marble, maker/retailer's name mostly worn off. Wooden panels are replacements for original porcelain ones. Functionality not guaranteed.
early 18th century, the 10" brass dial with enamel Roman numerals and Arabic seconds with mask and swag decoration on a brass eight day two train movement signed De Couigny, Paris, striking half hourly to a bell, the wooden case painted with floral sprays with ormolu mounts and a surmount depicting a nude female astride an eagle, the glazed door with another figural scene, with pendulum, height 86cm; together with a matching bracket painted with a scene of a fox and a stork (2). ** In restored condition, wear and minor losses to dial and case, loose strips of brasswork to reverse of top, appears to wind and strike but functionality not guaranteed, pendulum probably later and movement likely restored, lacking key, presents well overall.

Glass cracked to one side. Will wind and run, but we do not know if it keeps time. Will chime when passed through the hour. Some wear to dial. Otherwise generally dirty.
