A French Second Empire ormolu and alabaster portico clock garniture, 7.5cm convex enamel dial inscribed with Arabic numerals and decorated with flowering swags, gilt leafy scroll hands, twin winding holes, 14-day margin movement striking on a bell, the drum head case surmounted by a scantily clad putto, above a niche of nine columns, pine cone finials, the frieze with a tassled chain swag, knop feet, 48cm high, flanked by a pair of five-light, four-branch candelabra, conforming, 43cm, high, c.1860
A French Second Empire bronze mantel clock, the enamel dial with blue painted Roman chapter, pierced gilt hands, set on an fluted broken column decorated with swags and foliage, Cupid seated on top with his arrows, 14 day movement signed on the backplate R & C/Paris & London No. 1039, glass cover to movement three detachable feet. 35cm. tall. The maker, C A Richard et Cie., were founded in Paris in 1848 and opened a branch in London in 1857. Condition Report: Rear glass crcked, otherwise good.

A FINE AND RARE PAIR OF CHINESE IMPERIAL PALE CELADON JADE MODELS OF JARDINIERES QIANLONG 1736-95 The flaring bodies raised on three short feet, each jardinière issuing a gilt metal blossoming spray, one of prunus, the flowers in white jade, coral and enamel, the other peach, its flowers and leaves in agate and hardstone, with smaller petals in kingfisher feather, each with a small bird perched in its branches, its body adorned with kingfisher feathers. At the bases, rockwork, flowering rohdea, narcissus, nandina (the holy bamboo) and lingzhi fungi are depicted in lapis lazuli, red coral, amber and spinach-green jade, the jardinières each raised on an elaborately carved reticulated five-legged zitan stand, paper labels for John Sparks Ltd., 32.5cm and 31cm respectively, 39cm and 37.5cm overall. Provenance: property of a distinguished private collection, purchased from John Sparks Ltd. Cf. Classics of the Forbidden City, Architecture and Decoration of the Forbidden City, p.189, no.155 where cloisonné and jade examples in the Chu Xiu Gong palace can be seen; see also Imperial Furniture of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, p.249, no.287, where a pair of larger jade jardinières are illustrated; and The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Treasures of Imperial Court, pp.34-49 for further of related pieces. 清乾隆 御製青白玉鎏金銅百寶齊眉祝壽盆景 一對来源:英國重要私人收藏,購於John Sparks Ltd.由盆和景兩部分組成,花盆青白玉製,半透明,瑩潤光亮,通體光素。淺膛,如意足。其一以翠玉雕葉的桃花花心為鎏金累絲嵌點翠羽毛,喜鵲坐枝頭。另一景以白玉雕梅花為主,襯以天竺果及山石構成‘齊眉祝壽’美好寓意。盆景是宮廷中常見的陳設,尤其是在節日,除擺設鮮花外,殿里要添擺各式珍貴的盆景。清代養心殿造辦處的‘玉作’‘雜活作’‘牙作’‘累絲作’‘鋄金作’合製的盆景,有許多從設計、選料、製造上說都堪稱是上乘的精品。這些盆景是雍正年以來,造辦處特有的。造辦處主要的總設計人是從內務府員外郎出身後來做到內大臣的海望。據記載製造盆景的名手是在造辦處當差的蘇州能人施天章,詳見《故宮經典:故宮珍寶》,紫荊城出版社,2007,編號60。當然每個製作環節還有許多的設計者,同時也是作者。造辦處所製盆景或瓶花,章法是畫意的經營,色調是顯示其選料的質美。譬如此件拍品的其中一件花盆中的梅花,以鎏金銅作樹幹,白玉作花瓣綴以珊瑚小珠做花蕾,寒冬臘梅的特色表現無疑,工藝上乘,是清宮盆景工藝中的珍品。可參考一件藏於儲秀宮的以銅胎掐絲琺瑯為盆的盆景,見《故宮經典:故宮建築內檐裝修》,紫荊城出版社,2007,圖版155。一對成列于北京故宮博物館的翡翠鎏金銅盆景可資比較,見《故宮經典:明清宮廷家具》,紫荊城出版社,2007,編號287.
A GOOD JAPANESE CLOISONNE ENAMEL KORO AND COVER MEIJI 1868-1912 The ovoid body with two large panels depicting a bird flying over blossoming plants on a pink ground, the side panels with stylized ho-o birds, dragons, butterflies and other geometrical shapes, the foot, rim and lid with borders of lappets and key fret, the handles with karakusa scrolls and stylized flowers, in the style of Hayashi Kodenji (1831-1915), unsigned, 17.8cm. A JAPANESE CLOISONNE ENAMEL TRAY BY NAMIKAWA SOSUKE MEIJI 1868-1912 Of rectangular form, decorated with two sparrows perched on a flowering prunus branch on a blue-grey ground, the details in yusen and musen cloisonné enamels, the rim in shakudo, the reverse with grey-brown plum blossoms, the base with the Sakigake seal of Namikawa Sosuke (1847-1910), 20cm. Although this composition is unsigned, it is probably based on a kacho-ga design by an artist of the Shijo School such as Watanabe Seitei.
19th CENTURY DUTCH MARQUETRY ARCHITECTURAL TWO TRAIN MANTLE CLOCK, the mahogany case overall foliate inlaid in satinwood and other stained woods, having circular domed enamel face with Roman numerals, the brass two train movement striking on two bells and bearing the number 1422 to its back plate. Movement may be earlier than clock. 23.5" high (60cm) CONDITION REPORT: Overall good condition for its age, some minor wear, scuffs and marks, minor chips to the face,. Not tested. Vertical crack to front of case evident.
A pair of late 19th century Chinese Kuang -hsû polychrome famille jaune circular deep plates, decorated with central roundels of dragons surrounded by four further roundels of dragons with birds, upon a rich yellow enamel ground decorated with trailing flowers, with red Greek key pattern rim. Six character marks to base. One plate cracked, the other cracked and repaired. 23 cm wide.
