The lid appears to be stuck on and cannot be opened. The body and underside of the lid has multiple patches of tarnishing and residue from the salt. Pepper- the enamel appears to be in good condition. The lid comes on and off but does not stay on securely. The body also has some patches of tarnishing.

Brookhouse/Easingwold/55319 conforming outer case with engraved blind escutcheon numbered 55317 (1)** Robert Brookhouse, a younger son of Joseph Brookhouse of Derby (who invented a patent lever movement and, as Brookhouse and Tunnicliffe, made a number of epicyclic skeleton clocks to William Strutt’s design), was born in Derby 1825, was apprenticed to his father 1839-1846 thereafter marrying Emma and settling at Easingwold (Yorks.) where he set up as a watchmaker and jeweller, dying without issue in 1899.
