Sehr schönes Exemplar des gegen Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts populären Schlangenarmreifs. Zur Zeit der Romantik waren Schlangenarmbänder und -reifen ein sehr beliebtes Schmuckstück, von denen oft mehrere an einem Arm getragen wurden. Das vorliegende Exemplar zeichnet sich durch einen kunstvoll veschlungenen Körper aus sowie durch fein ziselierte Scharniere und Unterseite. Die Augen mit Rubinen verziert, streckt die Schlange die Zunge in die Luft um Witterung aufzunehmen. Das Email ist in einem wunderbaren Zustand. Rückseitige Datierung auf 1847. Very beautiful example of the, in the mid 19th century popular, snake bangle. In Romanticism, snake bracelets and bangles were a very popular piece of jewellery, often several were worn on one arm. The example here excels through an artfully intertwined body as well as finely chased hinges and underside. The eyes adorned with rubies, the snake extends its tongue to take in the weather.
