An Elgin gold plated Hunter pocket watch, with plated Albert chain, a Swiss half Hunter pocket watch with English plated case, a Thomas Russell open faced knob wind pocket watch and another. CONDITION REPORT: The American Waltham traveller with Arabic numerals winds and is ticking away. The face is a little scratched in places and there is some staining around the centre pin. The case is in structurally good order but has some losses to the plating particularly on the back. The Thomas Russell open faced watch winds and appears to be ticking away. There are two hairline cracks to the dial. There is a small loss by numeral 10. The case is in generally good condition. The half Hunter watch winds and appears to be ticking away. The outer case is in generally good order. The blue enamel to the numerals is rubbed. The bullseye glass is scratched. There are several scuffs and marks to the rear of the case. The Hunter Elgin watch winds and the movement does start to tick but stops after a few seconds. It then runs intermittently and does not seem to quite want to self start. The dial is in good condition. The case is in good order also.
A Victorian glass decanter, decorated with lily of the valley, and two others. CONDITION REPORT: Decanter one has a stopper with an accumulation of dirt to the incised line. The base of the stopper has tiny chips. There is a small chip to the base of the main decanter body but otherwise no further faults. Decanter two (facet neck) shows no post manufacture faults. Decanted three (enamel decorated) has rubbed gilding to the finial of the stopper. There is light gilt rubbing to the neck and body. Enamel appears intact. No other post production faults visible. None of the decanters have any engravings or makers marks.
An 18th century pair cased verge pocket watch, by J. Dyoll, London, the brass case with gold coloured metal over and tortoiseshell. Outer case diameter 55 mm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The outer case is in generally good order. It snaps shut as it should. There is small piece of tortoiseshell missing at numeral 4. The back of the case has an old hairline crack but there is no movement. The inner brass case is scratched and marked around the hinge pin. There are old solder repairs visible around the top hinge. The hinge is a little loose. The face has approx 6 small faint hairline cracks. There is no significant loss to the enamel other than minor nibbles around the edge. The hour hand is missing. The movement does wind but is not ticking for more than a few seconds.
Great War Graylingwell War Hospital Commemorative Fob, fine brass and enamel circular fob badge with “IN RECOGNITION OF WAR SERVICE 1915-1919” to the edge and the centre having shield with GRAYLINGWELL WAR HOSPITAL and Sussex coat of arms with six Martlets. Small fob hook attached to the top. Graylingwell Hospital was formerly the West Sussex County Asylum situated in Chichester, West Sussex. At the outbreak of the First World War, the asylum was requisitioned to serve as a Military Hospital and the inmates were relocated to other asylums in the area. Casualties began arriving on 24 March 1915 directly from the Western Front, via train from Dover. The hospital was returned to civilian use in 1919 following a solemn ceremony during which the last patients left to the sound of the Last Post.
Royal Lincolnshire Regiment Officers Collar / Field Service Badge, silver gilt and enamel example being eight pointed star with gilt circlet having regimental details, blue enamel centre and silvered Sphinx. J R Gaunt makers mark to the reverse and two lug fittings. Polished but still in good condition.
