An Aubergine glazed Box and Cover for weiqi counters, 18th century or earlier, the thinly potted body of elegant compressed globular form, covered overall 'sur biscuit' with a rich aubergine enamel, except within the unglazed foot, where the base is enamelled turquoise and bears an incised six character mark in an oblong cartouche, the low domed cover with an incised square four character mark picked out in turquoise Fair condition. Restored crack from rim on box, running down to centre belly and turning to the right for 5cm. The lid with breaks repaired. W:18.5cm.
