A mahogany and brass inlaid mantle clock, unsigned, 19th century, the eight-day bell striking and concentric bell chiming movement with white enamel Roman numeral dial with striking silent and chime silent selector dials to the arch, the mahogany case with brass inlaid decoration, 52cm highCondition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use, some old splits and cracks, chips and losses to veneers and mouldings. The dial with some chipping and wear around the winding holesDreweatts cannot guarantee the movement as working, the movement does not appear clean overall and would benefit from a clean and an overhaul by a professional clock restorer- there is no winding key present and the pendulum. The backplate has a vacant hole in the upper corner - it is not known what this was for, the brass elements that have been applied to the backplate have milling to the borders to blend in with the backplate. There is a pendulum holding nut to the centre of the backplate - this may be able to be stored in the vacant hole but it does not sit easily here. The bell support does appear to be either later or re-sited - there are some holes beneath and a shadow where a longer support may have been fitted. There are no case keys - the doors are open, both doors are warped and with chips and losses. The gilt metal areas are dirty and discolouredThe dial is signed for RD LEACH London, the bell is stamped W.H. & Co BristolPlease refer to additional images for visual reference to conditionCondition Report Disclaimer
