An Early 19th Century Chinese Carved Ivory Brisé Fan, Qing Dynasty, the seventeen inner sticks and two guards having a central oval left plain for initials, the main body carved with figures and stylised trees,6.5 inches or 16.5cm. One central stick absent. Possibly one more to the left side. Brown staining to the upper guard and first stick in, and very slightly warped see when closed.
Five Fans, to include: A good 18th century ivory fan, the monture carved, pierced and painted in soft colour, the double paper leaf showing possibly Venus and Mars with attendants in the countryside, the verso with a solitary lady at rest in a clearing, 10.5 inches or 26.5cm; together with A circa 1890's black gauze fan, mounted on black wood, painted with two adult and clusters of immature birds, all with red head feathers, guard length 14 inches or 35.5 cm; A further late 19th century fan of cream gauze, mounted on serpentine bone sticks, the gauze painted with flowers and edged with cream machine lace, guard length 12.75 inches or 32 cm; A small cream pierced celluloid brisé fan; and A 1920's feather fan of fontange form, the monture painted cream, the feathers white and painted with tiny blue birds, attached to a layer of silk cream, the verso plain, guard length 13.5 inches or 34.5cm. fan 1 in good order save for some minor splitting to the top on some folds. Fan 2 is sound, fan 3 has multiple holes to the gauze, fan 4 is sound and fan 5 needs some attention.
A Large Late 18th Century Carved Ivory Brisé Fan, Qing Dynasty, the very finely carved 25 inner sticks and two guards all with rounded tips. Centrally, the main feature comprises a shield containing initials, surrounded by extravagant drapery. To either side, a large oval, containing pagodas, other buildings, and stylised trees. Both guards are more deeply carved with fine blossoms and foliage. Guard length 10.5 inches or 27cm. Several very slight losses to the carving to the stick tips. Ribbon loose but holding.
A Good and Fine Late 18th Century Chinese Carved Ivory Brisé Fan, Qing Dynasty, the twenty-eight inner sticks and two guards delicately carved with a mainly floral design. The guards, more deeply carved, feature birds and flowers. Alternate rounded tips feature a bird or flower. Centrally, a shield containing the initials MM is contained within drapes with tassels and too each side three pairs of smaller roundels contain the same floral sprays that fill the rest of the central panel. A distinctive and unusual border divides the central section form the lower gorge, this featuring two further roundels carved with birds and a decorative urn filled with flowers. The verso is flat. Contained in a modern hinged fan box. Guard length 10 inches or 25.5c. Ribbon sound. Some traces of glue. One sliver lacking within one stick, to the left, nothing else noted.
An Early 19th Century Chinese Carved Ivory Brisé Fan, the twenty-one inner sticks and two guards are wedge-shaped. The fan is carved in seven main bands, and centrally a small oval within a medium size oval present a detailed scene of two figures of some import and a servant, amidst unusual flowers, a pagoda, with birds in flight. The guards feature tiny buildings, and flowers, and the tip sticks feature different shells. The first band after the ribbon creates a border that wholly encloses the other bands. Delicate bands feature minutely carved roundels, waves, tiny flower sprays, which also feature in the lower gorge. The verso is plain. Guard length 7 inches or 17.75c. Ribbon sound. Some period repairs are evident. Both guards are repaired with an ivory splint. Three central sticks have been repaired in the same fashion. A few tiny ivory slivers missing.

Mirror 1 - mirror plate heavily tarnished. Base with some discolouration and deep scratches. Verso rather faded. Ivory feet dry and cracked. Later lock fitted to middle drawer, with key. Later handles. Mirror 2 - verso faded. Some variations in colour, mainly around the spindle turned support at the base. Natural small gaps in the moulded frame. 261119
A Late George III Mahogany and Rosewood Crossbanded Toilet Mirror, early 19th century, the oval mirror plate within shaped supports with small ivory roundels, the base of serpentine shaped form with one large and two small drawers above bracket feet, 45cm by 20cm by 66cm. Nice colour and patina. Middle drawer has a lock but no key, drawer is open. Mirror plate rather tarnished, otherwise good. 041219
A set of late 19th Century Staunton chess-men in red stained and natural ivory, contained within a Jaques Pierre Carton papier mache box, the white king stamped 'Jaques, London' and is 9cm in height, condition of chessmen generally good with just some light rubbing to the red stained finish in places, the castellated casket bearing a red paper label to the base 'The Staunton Chess-Men, Registered No. 58, 607, 5 & 6 Vict. cap 100, Ivory, H. Staunton, Jaques, London', some damage, repair and losses to the box, dimensions height 10.5cm, width 21cm and depth 15cm.
A Three-Piece Victorian Silver Tea-Service, by Stephen Smith, London, 1872, each piece tapering cylindrical, the shoulder engraved with stylised foliage, the teapot with ivory insulated handle; Together With: A Victorian Silver Coffee-Pot, by Stephen Smith and William Nicholson, London, 1852, tapering cylindrical and engraved with foliage and a crest, with ivory insulated handle, the coffee-pot 22.5cm high, gross weight 65oz 19dwt (4) . The teapot and cream-jug each fully marked near handle. The sugar-bowl and coffee-pot fully marked underneath. The teapot and coffee-pot further part marked inside cover and on handle. The marks are generally clear, though there is some wear to the marks on the teapot. Overall there are surface scratches and wear, consistent with age and use. The ivory insulators have some cracking and discolouration. There is some bruising in places, particularly on the cream jug and sugar bowl. There is an area of discolouration visible inside the teapot, possible caused by a small patch, though this is not visible on the outside of the teapot. The teapot also has some repairs on the handle. The bottom hinge pin on the coffee-pot is lacking and replaced with a piece of wire.
A George IV Silver Shaving-Mug, by Charles Rawlings, London, 1825, tapering cylindrical and with carved ivory side handle, the flat hinged cover engraved with a crest, 11.3cm high, gross weight 9oz 14dwt . Fully marked near rim. The cover marked inside with maker's mark, lion passant and date letter. There are some surface scratches, consistent with age and use. There are some minor cracks and some staining to the ivory handle. The top handle junction has been repaired. There are the remains of a later material base adhered to the base.
A Set of Victorian Silver-Mounted Ivory Fruit-Knives and Fruit-Forks, by Mappin and Webb, Sheffield, 1853, each piece with carved ivory handle, the blades and tines engraved with foliage scrolls, comprising 12 fruit-forks and 11 fruit-knives, in fitted brass-bound box, the box 30cm wide (23) . Each piece fully marked on blades or tines. The marks are generally clear. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There are cracks and discolouration to the ivory. The box has some cracking and loss to the veneer as well as scratching overall.
