A late Regency mahogany secretaire bookcase of small proportions, the upper section with reeded cornice over two Gothic arch glazed and barred doors enclosing adjustable shelving on a base with fitted secretaire drawer with Bramah lock enclosing a fitted interior with drawers and pigeon holes, over a pair of panelled cupboard doors enclosing three linen shelves, the door with further Bramah lock, raised on turned cup and cover supports, 85.7 cm wide x 208 cm high x 51 cm deep CONDITION REPORTS A couple of the panes of glass are cracked and a couple have been replaced. There is some cracking to the veneer especially noticable on the top left-hand corner of the top section. Area of moulding missing to the left-hand section middle and some damage just around the corner. Some heavy scratches but old. Some damage to the moulding on the right-hand middle section. Ivory finials to some of the handles have broken. Entire item has clearly been well polished over the years. Some heavy surface scraching on the left-hand side to the base. Otherwise general wear and tear conducive with age and use to include knocks, bumps, stains, etc. See images for more details.

A 19th Century Ceylonese (probably Galle district) ebony and inlaid breakfast table, the top with swirling segmented sample wood decoration interspersed by ivory, ebony and rosewood feather banding within a foliate carved edged raised on a turned and reeded centre column with carved S-scroll base to the waisted platform with foliate carved frieze raised on turned and carved squat bun feet (provenance:Part of the dispersal sale of the contents of Mount Falcon, County Mayo , property of Sir Richard Onslow Bt., thence by descent; a family piece acquired by repute from Solly Joel, the Diamond King, but purports also to have been made for the King of Siam and acquired as part of a wager ), 118 cm diameter x 77 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Has losses to the inlay in various places, water marks on the surface throughout, surface scratches etc. Some of the inlay has risen up. Crack and has been repaired to the edge in one part. Cracks mainly along the joins, however one cover to the base has cracks running through it. Split to the underside of the top. In need of a clean. NETSUKE OF ASHINAGA AND TENAGA. Japan. 18th c. Ivory, on the back with amber yellow patina. Eyes of the octopus inlaid with dark horn. Ashinaga carries Tenaga on his back and the latter holds an octopus with his long arms, which has its tentacles wrapped around Ashinaga's right leg. Both are dressed in loincloths, their hair and beard engraved with fine lines rubbed out in black. While Tenaga has straight hair, that of Ashinaga is curled. H.9cm. Condition A/B. IMPORTANT NETSUKE OF CHÔKARÔ SENNIN WITH GOURD. Japan. Late 18th/early 19th c. Ivory with shiny, amber yellow patina. The figure might be stained a bit. Standing, dressed in a wide robe with leaf collar and apron. Knotted to his belt he has a gourd, to which he points with his left hand. He has raised his right hand and holds a short staff behind his neck. This staff once belonged to a fly whisk, from which probably a part of the hair has broken off. Here was later very skilfully carved over with a leaf, no patina is found here either. H.9.7cm. Sign.: Signed on the back: Nobukatsu. Condition B. Standing on one leg and holding in his two folded hands in front of him the pearl which commands the tide. He is dressed in a Chinese jacket over a hip scarf. Hair and beard are crimped. His robe is decorated with an expressive dragon pattern, on his head he wears a hat with a curved brim and a feather, his long pants are probably made of fur.
