A Senufo "Wanyugo" fire spitter mask, Ivory Coast, with animal surmount to the head between carved horns and stylised face, height 53cm, width 18.5cm, depth 16cm. Zoomorphic masks of this type were worn by the Senufo society members worn and funerals of important members. The teeth and mouth were designed like a crocodile, with horns like an antelope and warthog style tusks. These masks were designed to protect the community against evil.

A Senufo (Poro) cult figure, Ivory Coast, height 44.75cm, width 12.5cm, depth 15cm. This figure represents the spirit known as Sambo. Its function is to assist the souls of the recently dead to reconcile themselves to their new condition, break their ties with the world of the living and make their way into the after world. The body is strangely curved, almost like a rearing cobra with S-shaped spine, being an extremely stylised version of the shape the Senufo often give to female fertility figures with swollen bellies indication pregnancy. This figure retains traces of kaolin.
