λ A mid 17th century large ivory and vellum European fan painted with various musicians in a landscape, along with exotic flying birds, circa 1660, the ivory guards and sticks carved and pierced, the sticks being threaded through the lower section of the leaf, the verso with flowers contained in ‘architectural’ containers, the fan comes with various written communications between a former owner and Helene Alexander, founder of the Fan Museum Greenwich, in which she confirms the date and significance of this scarce mid-17th century fan and suggests a possible link to the Grand Dauphin Louis of France (1 November 1661 – 14 April 1711), eldest son and heir of Louis XIV, King of France, and his spouse, Maria Theresa of Spain, 31cm long (boxed)

λ A mid-18th century Jacobite related straw work fan with paper leaf painted with a military encampment and an elegant lady, fan in hand, being received by an officer, most likely Prince William, Duke of Cumberland also Marquess of Berkhamstead, Earl of Kennington, Viscount Trematon and Baron Alderney (Great Britain, 1726), below a sign inscribed 'Valliant Troop', circa 1746, the ivory sticks set with painted and inlaid straw-work and mother of pearl, the head of the sticks and guards carved to form a shell, Prince William, Duke of Cumberland is best remembered for his role in putting down the Jacobite Rising at the Battle of Culloden in 1746, which made him immensely popular throughout Britain, he is often referred to by the nickname given to him by his Tory opponents: 'Butcher' Cumberland, 27cm long (contained in a black shagreen case)
