His grandfather was the founder of The Times and upon his father's death became the sole manager of the paper. He was elected to Parliament for Nottingham in 1847 and later for Berkshire in 1868, holding his seat until he retired in 1885. The family lived at Bearwood House, in Sindlesham, Berkshire. Frames need attention.

Md" watercolour on ivory 8 x 9.50cm (3 x 4in) Provenance: Acquired at a house sale in Norwich about 60 years ago The present work on ivory appears to be the only known work by Morland executed on ivory. According to a manuscript note dated 1890 to the reverse, it was painted for Mr Robert Wedd of Gerrard St, Soho, and was passed down to his grandson in 1842.
