Terracotta field with all over design of large medallions in shades of green, pale blue, ivory, pink, pale apricot, walnut all linked together on a strapwork and floral lattice. Dark blue main border of palmettes in a similar palette; ivory floral guards and plain terracotta outer border. Soft palette and soft handle.

Indian pulkhari, (shawl), Punjab, north India, circa 1940s, 98in. x 50in. 249cm. x 127cm. The ground comprising two widths of light brown cotton joined vertically and embroidered with a geometric design in floss silks in bright orange and ivory, the outer narrow bands with purple, pink, green, yellow and dark blue details. Unlined.

Typical 8-pointed dark blue central medallion on a light terracotta field with ivory spandrels; all over floral design; indigo main border of mille-fleurs and palmette design; pale gold guards. Lustrous wool and soft palette. Medium handle.

Sky-blue cartouche shaped field with central dark red medallion and ivory pendants, dark red spandrels with ivory strapwork; dark red main border of strapwork and palmettes interspersed with various landscape cartouches; ivory floral guards. Close clipped velvety wool, rich palette and soft handle. Provenance: Purchased in Geneva by the present owner in the 1960s.

Central cartouche shaped medallion with pale blue and ivory spandrels with pale apricot quarter medallions to each side; all over scrolling flowers repeated in the greeny gold main border. Close clipped pile and soft palette.

Plain camel prayer niche with an ivory octagon within a panel above the prayer arch; narrow guards around a pale yellow floral main border. Soft handle.
Kurdish village rug, east Anatolia, late 19th century, 6ft. 1in. X 4ft. 2in. 1.86m. X 1.27m. Overall even wear with corrosion to dark brown in places; slight losses to lower end. Lustrous wool on a wool foundation woven in a wonderfully rich palette including a wide bluey/green inner guard and an ivory outer guard flanking a dark brown main border.
