A Cantonese ivory tangram puzzle accompanied with two xylographic books, the carved puzzle box containing seven carved and pierced shapes, 7 x 7 cm, the books with carved covers and paper pages with the puzzles and the solutions, 10.5 x 8.5 cm (3). Provenance; Sir Thomas Symmonds Tomlinson, (1877 - 1965), then by descent. Tomlinson became Town Magistrate in Zanzibar in 1907, rising to become Lord Chief Justice between 1925 - 1928, (knighted in 1925), he was instrumental in effectuating the Zanzibar Courts Decree and the British Subordinate Courts Order of 1923.

Missing part of hand and head has been off. Foy figure has firing cracks.
