An interesting 19th century elm box relating to The Duke of Wellington at Waterloo, the hinged top inset with ivory plaque engraved "Wellington Tree. Waterloo. June 18th 1815", 9.5ins this box is accompanied by a letter from the National Army Museum. This explains that, on the day of 18th June, 1815 the Duke took up his battle position beneath an elm at La Haye Sainte. Although it cannot be proved, this box purports to have been made as a souvenir from "The Wellington Tree"1248. An early 19th century Windsor Castle silver lustre jug, printed with a panoramic view of the castle and verse to obverse, 4.25in.
A 17th century stumpwork panel, worked in a variety of stitches with pearl bead detail on an ivory silk ground, depicting Esther before Ahasuerus (portrayed as Charles II) receiving a golden sceptre as a sign that she may speak. Charles II is also depicted on horseback, in his bedchamber and on the scaffold, framed. 1ft x 1ft 7.5ins

A tall ivory cup and cover, probably South German, circa 1885 the cylindrical bowl carved in relief with Pan amid a bevy of Bacchic beauties, supported on the figure of a vine-draped Atlas figure, the base on three satyr mask supports, the borders and cover ornamented with lobing, scrolls and acanthus below a finial carved as Hippodamia snatched by the centaur Eurytus height 70cm, 27Iin
The Baillie Family. An unusual ivory group, probably Dieppe, late 19th century carved after the painting by Gainsborough, with Mr and Mrs James Baillie and their four children height 27cm, 10Kin, on cut-cornered rectangular ebonised wood plinth Thomas Gainsborough painted his portrait of the Baillie family of Ealing Grove around 1784. It was bequeathed to the Tate Gallery in 1868 by Alexander Baillie of Naples, presumably a descendant and perhaps one of the children portrayed. James Baillie of Dochfour was MP for Horsham.
