^ Unusual 19th Century Persian Dagger Jambya, curved double edge blade with raised central rib, walrus ivory hilt carved in relief on one side with seated king holding a mace, and on the reverse with an ascetic smoking a pipe and seated beneath a tree containing a perched parrot, the pommel carved in relief with a perched parrot, borders inlaid with brass nail heads; in its black leather covered sheath with silver toggle and bone finial. Blade 22cms, overall 33cms. Good condition.
^ Unusual Indian 17th/18th Century Dagger Khanjarli, straight double edge blade with raised central rib, thickened tip, pierced at forte with a pair of stylised addorsed lions, dish-shaped oval iron guard with small rounded finials, 4 piece riveted ivory hilt, the pommel with stylised bird heads at the extremities. Blade 19.5cms, overall 31cms. Good condition.
^ Indian Dagger Khanjarli, late 18th century, recurved watered blade cut with sharp fullers and with raised central ridge, 4 piece ivory grips secured by pierced silver rivet heads, iron knuckle bow with silver foil covering and with stylised lion head finial set with a silver ring, in its velvet covered wooden sheath with engraved silver chape. Blade 21.2cms. Good condition, silvering to hilt incomplete, a little rodent damage to pommel.
Rare 19th Century Indian Powder Flask from Etwa, the body of European form entirely covered with a mosaic of engraved ivory and mother-of-pearl shapes against a composition ground, silver top embossed with a Makarra head, chained stopper and twin silver suspension rings. Overall length 22.5cms. Good condition, 3 pieces of inlay missing. For an account of powder flask production in Etwa see ‘The Delhi Exhibition’ Watts, 1902.
^ Georgian Naval Officers Dirk, curved single edge blade with false edge retaining traces of etched and gilt foliage, gilt copper crosspiece with swollen finials, lion’s head pommel, chequered one piece ivory grip, in its leather scabbard with foliate engraved brass mounts and twin suspension rings. Blade 27cms. Good condition, chape missing from scabbard.
^ Unusual Continental Officers Dirk c.1800, tapered blade of shallow diamond section, recurved iron crosspiece with small swollen pointed finials, octagonal ivory grip swollen towards the middle, facetted iron pommel cap, in its leather sheath with copper mounts. Blade 35cms. Good condition and age patina, leather worn with a small piece missing.
^ Fine and Rare Hallmarked Silver Mounted Irish Constabulary Presentation Mameluke Sabre, 1843, pipe back single edge blade by IOHN IRELAND, Elliss’s Quay, DUBLIN, etched ‘Presented By Command Of His EXCELLENCY the LORD LIEUTENANT to Sub Inspector THOs. THOMPSON for Meritorious Constabulary Services 1843’ all within ribbons against profuse scrolling foliage and shamrocks overall, mounts chiselled overall with shamrocks and foliage in relief and repeatedly hall marked for London, 1842-3, maker T.B within a rectangle (for Thomas Barker), comprising H.M. crosspiece, foliate engraved grip strap, chiselled silver thimbles to pommel, 2 piece ivory grips with silver bullion dress knot, in its fish skin covered scabbard with H.M. locket, 2 H.M. hanging bands and 2 H.M. suspension rings. Blade 80cms. Good untouched condition, the attic find sword requires cleaning; chape, lower fish skin and grip rivets missing.
^ Scarce WIVR 1831 Pattern General Officers Mameluke Sword, polished pipe back blade by C MOORE LONDON etched with crowned WIVR interlaced and reversed, crossed flags and extensive scrolling foliage, brass crosspiece with foliage in relief and foliate finials, brass grip strap and Tudor rose rivet heads, 2 piece ivory grips, in its brass scabbard with twin hanging rings. Blade 82.5cms. Good condition.
^ Unusual Indian Army Officers Sword c.1850, pipe back mirror polished blade by MOORE & HAYES 39 St. James’s St, LONDON, engraved brass crosspiece of mameluke type, one piece ivory grip pierced at the pommel with brass thimbles, and retaining its gold bullion dress knot (detatched), in its steel scabbard. Blade 82cms. Good condition, blade retains nearly all its original mirror polish, dress knot worn, scabbard cleaned.
