Lot 1105
A very fine cabinetmakers lockable solid mahogany chest with key measuring 46" x 27" x 30"h. with two banks of 19 d/t drawers or dummy drawers with ivory pulls, the drawer fronts edged with boxwood and ebony, the tops crossbanded with figured rosewood and tulipwood interspersed with boxwood, satinwood and ebony stringing. The lid, with integral saw till for 9 saws, beautifully decorated to match. This must be the finest chest we have ever offered for sale, a fitting entry for our 50th International auction, from the Richard Knight collection F(3000-5000) illustrated back cover.

An exquisite Presentation Set of silver trowel with carved ivory handle, 5" turned ivory mallet and 4 1/2" combination silver rule, square and plumb bob, all with Edinburgh Hallmark for 1870-71. The trowel and square beautifully engraved and the trowel with "Presented to Mrs Wm. Morris Coombe on the Occasion of Laying Foundation Stone of New Chapel, Llanybri, 6th June 1873 in velvet lined and fitted leather bound case with gold trim, case catch needs attention F(800-1200)

A fine and probably unique brass framed brace by THOMAS PILKINGTON Sheffield with Coat of Arms and By Her Majesty's Royal Letters Patent, Guaranteed,with beech webs, ebony handle and large knurled brass button pad, the ebony head inlaid with a brass ring instead of the more usual ivory, the brace is of unusual construction having characteristics of both the Sims brace and the Ultimatums, this brace was part of the original Eaton collection but was acquired after the printing of his book, good repair to head o/w F(2000-3000)
