Extensive surface scratching and pitting and staining, the right hand side weather damage, the polish has lifted overall cracking and discolouration, handle discoloured and rusted, the front extensively discoloured, the polish is peeling extensively staining, interior of the doors good condition, the speaker, the grill good condition, the supports discoloured polish lifting and missing, the H stretcher discoloured, the left hand side the polish extensively peeling and lifted and peeling, deep scratch measuring approx 15cms, the back the polish extensively lifting and peeling, the right hand front leg scratched, dog bites, the interior generally good condition with some polish peeling on the left and right hand sides, HMV lithograph good condition, some polish lifting on the left and right hand raised sides, polish scratched and lacking to the front edge, turn table good condition, gilt arm some surface scratching but generally good, gilt work some surface scratching to needle holders, average condition.

A TURNED IVORY BOX Sri Lanka, circa 1700 on splayed foot, with elaborately worked scrolling silver mounts, the hinged lid with bud finial 7cm high; 7cm max. diam. Provenance Private collection Germany, acquired 1969-72 in Sri Lanka by the vendor while working in development assistance. The form of this box is similar to that of silver limepots, although there are no signs that this object was used as such.
