The natural pearls of superb lustre and rare colour, ranging from ivory and dove grey through to lavender and palest shell pink. The whole, finished with an 18ct gold clasp of flower head form set with an estimated 4cts of cushion cut diamonds. The diamonds of good colour and clarity. A VERY UNUSUAL ALMOST-MATCHING PAIR OF GEORGE III PERIOD WRITING SCREEN TABLES. Each with rectangular top, one in mahogany, the other in rosewood, with satinwood and calamander-wood. One with satinwood and calamander wood banding, the other with satinwood and mahogany banding. Each with a frieze drawer and a pull-up screen to the rear, the drawer enclosing a writing slide and ivory handles. Raised on square tapering legs with brass-cup castors. The other with a similar pull-up screen, the drawer fitted with a slide and a concealed drawer for pen and ink bottles. A pair. Each, 30" (76cm) high x 22" (56cm) wide. (2)

A Dutch Oyster-Veneered Walnut, Ivory, Ebony and marquetry cabinet-on-stand, the rectangular moulded cornice above a pair of doors inlaid with geometric patterns of stars and circles and seaweed marquetry within chequer-banding, enclosing three shelves and inlaid with a star to the reverse of the doors, the lower section with further oyster-veneered and chequer banding above three frieze drawers flanked by marquetry panels, on ring-turned faceted tapering legs joined by a stretcher and on bun feet, restorations, adapted. H.211 W.175 D.56cm The parquetry pattern on the doors of this cabinet relates to a late 17th century cabinet in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam (J.van Herck, Il Mobile Fiammingo, Milan, 1972, p.93, fig 99), and although lacking the seaweed marquetry, shares much in common with a cabinet from the collection of Peter Morris, Esq., Yester House, sold Sotheby's London, 14th December 1973, lot 162.Provenance: Christie's, 30th October, 1997
