A spectacular cabinetmaker's lockable pine chest measuring 41" x 24" x 24"d. with two banks of 3 sliding trays and 5 drawers with leather pulls with saw compartment over moulding plane wells, the tray lids with moulded rosewood edging and walnut surround with ebony and satinwood stringing. The lid with moulded central panel in figured mahogany decorated with satinwood and ebony stringing and an inlaid ebony and ivory plaque with owners name Thomas Duguid and, most unusually, the hinge and chest surround decorated with ebony and satinwood. A GEORGE III TRAVELLING-SET WITH 'AS WE FOUND IT' CONTENTS the serpentine shaped box with two drawers and a hinged lid, it is rectangular based and leather covered (distressed) with a fanned sarcophagus top, the finial with brass plaque inscribed M Latimer 1819 and the box is raised on four gilt metal floral feet. The hinged lid reveals the compartmented and cushioned sewing section and contains various associated trinkets including gilded scissors, ivory-based pin-cushion, mother-of-pearl items etc. The upper drawer contains a sequin bag and five Raphael Tuck & Sons figure-cards while the lower drawer is a writing slope with inkwells, 33cms wide

An unusual Georgian mourning pendant brooch to celebrate the lives of the daughters of The Rev George Coventry of Stitchell in Roxboro, Margaret Coventry was married in 1787 to the Rev J. Peddie D.D. of Bristo Edinburgh, her sister was married to Rev.
