A colonial ivory box, early 19th century, the hinged cover with applied carved panels, the centre with a classical scene within four vignettes of harvest scenes, loss and damage, 24cm long 20cm deep 7cm high CONDITION REPORT: Many of the top panels are incomplete and missing parts. The ivory has risen to areas. Two panels are detached to the back of the box. Beadwork moulding is lost to majority of the top.
A George III ivory single compartment tea caddy, with a domed cover, tortoiseshell borders and an oval white metal plaque within a mother-of-pearl border, 11.5cm high The initials to the plaque are those of Henry Fane, son of Thomas 8th Earl of Westmorland of Fulbeck Hall, Lincs. CONDITION REPORT: Splits to ivory of all side panels. Front panel with minor concave warp. Interior of lid relined and interior lid replaced. Remaining foil worn. Replacement baize to base. Some discolouration to ivory.

*A West African Loango Coast Kongo of Vili peoples carved ivory tusk, carved in a spiral band, images of slaves, men carrying things like food and properties, traders haggling and presiding over Colonial dignitaries process, in single file to the tip of the tusk. These tusks were carved between 1830 and 1900 using iron tools in workshops along the Loango Coast. The native artists of these workshops adapted the naturalism and expressive power of their traditional art to produce these unique objects depicting the commercial trade and activities of European and African merchants, height 38.5cm
