A Victorian silver presentation trowel by George W Adams, with an ivory handle, the blade engraved with an image of the Handley monument at Sleaford, within a foliate scroll border, the obverse with a presentation inscription, London 1850, 14" long, in a fitted case; together with a portrait miniature after William Foster, the recipient of the trowel, half length, wearing a blue jacket, white waistcoat and a cravat, in a folding Morocco case, 3¼" x 2½"; a newspaper cutting by the subjects grandson with the history of the event accompanies this lot.
Rare & Important Mid C18th Organ by John Snetzler dated 1754. The mahogany case with 3 arched inlaid fiddle back mahogany panels to a 31 ivory keyed keyboard, the sides with half round mouldings & gilt line decoration. The front panel with arcaded boxwood & ebony strung arches, cross banded to top & sides, single string line, boxwood inlay to keyboard plateau. Pipes Painted with Old Gold Paint, split baluster turned decoration to each side. Internal Plaque John Snetzler Fecit Londini 1754. Measuring 44’ wide, 27’ deep to front of keyboard, 20’ deep to top section, 37’ high to top of keyboard, approx. further 55’ to the top front piece by 92’ high. This organ was in regular use up to 3 years ago and is believed to be that donated to a charitable organisation by Captain Lane of Snaresbrook and has undergone some alteration over the years.
