Together with a unmarked silver handled Ivory blade letter opener measuring 13.5 inches in length and a jewellery box containing a string of pearls and a tortoise shell decorated glove box.
An Oriental group to comprise a glass snuff bottle modelled as a tortoise climbing up faux ivory (9cm), together with a two part celadon jade carving of a tortoise and removable vertical, a green hardstone seated Buddha upon stand and a heavy polished hardstone model carved as a boy on the back of a recumbent water buffalo (modern) (4)
A 19th century Chinese carved ivory bodkin case of cylindrical section, the main body carved with sinuous dragons, birds and foliage etc., and with a central horizontal semi-elliptical cartouche engraved the the monogram EM, together with one other similar period Chinese carved ivory cylindrical case (minus top) and a turned 19th century ivory handle as faux bamboo, the bodkin case with lid 16cm (3) The ivory hand appears to be in reasonable condition with no major spits, cracks or repairs. Some discolouration is noted, the smaller bodkin case has some minor pieces away and the screw on lid has a horizontal split running through the outside which is prevalent and visible. It is noted that there is now a screw on base to the smaller one. The larger bodkin case appears in good order with no major problems noted. The screw on lid is also in reasonable condition. The cover of the screw on lid is also reasonable with a very small 4mm hairline to the top which is not really visible. It contains 3 needles and 2 other implements and does have a base. There is a small hairline crack through the engraved cartouche. The three items total weight is approx. 150.9g
A late 19th century Chinese hardwood and brass-mounted Mahjong cabinet, the swivel-handle modelled as a bat above a central Shou character and the rest of the cabinet also profusely mounted with various brass symbols including a opposing dragons to each door, the doors opening to reveal four drawers fully fitted with bamboo-backed ivory tables, the outer lower drawer with sticks, further tablets and general Mahjong accessories etc., complete with four tile stands (damage to tile stands and the top left-hand hinge away from the door), (with original brass lock and key)
