A Meiji period Japanese ivory netsuke, modelled as a pair of puppies playing on a coolie hat, one in white with black eyes, the other stained black with black eyes, the underside with carved chin straps, reputedly from the Bluth Collection, 2.3 cm high x 5 cmA hairline crack is running from the side of the white puppy's head, through the eyes and down to its tail. Additional smaller cracks are present on its back, paw and leg.The darker puppy also has two cracks running down its back and one through its thigh.One crack is visible on the underside of the netsuke.Light scuffs and scratches and visible on the main structure.Areas of yellow residue are present on the underside.

Anglo-Indian School, A Pair of Portrait Miniatures, early 19th century, the first inscribed verso "....May 15th 1822, Tippoo Sahib, done by a native of India", the second "......the father of Tippoo, done by a native of India", each oval, watercolour on ivory, in a rosewood frame. Each approximately 8cm by 6cm. Note: Tippoo Sahib (or Tipu Sahib) was born in 1750 and died in 1799 and was known as the Tiger of Mysore. This image is based on other well known images of the famous South Indian ruler who battled British Imperialism and, in particular, the East India Company before dying in battle in 1799.
