A late George III mahogany, satinwood and boxwood strung secretaire, circa 1810, slight oversailing rectangular form top, the dummy drawer fall front enclosing interior fitted with a writing surface and an arrangement of pigeon holes and drawers with ivory randles, over three long drawers with brass handles and ivory escutcheon, bow apron raised on splay supports. 142cm H x 132cm W x 53.5cm DCondition Report:Good condition with signs of loss to the veneer, missing with brass mouldings on the handles, signs of wear to the writing surface and general and scratches.

Lacking gilding on 5 ends and elements of loss elsewhere, including paper edges and pierced ivory on guards. Old restoration, including two sticks.

A set of late 19th Century Staunton ivory and red stained ivory chess men in a gothic design papier mache casket bearing label 'Jaques London', 'The Staunton-Chessmen' with the signature of H. Staunton. Together with leather covered board. 16 pieces. Box 21.5 x 16 x 11cm approx. (B.P. 21% + VAT) The box has various losses, knocks and bumps. Hinge is beginning to separate, lining is poor. label to base is torn. Complete number of pieces but a number do have chips and frits, particularly around base edges. One of the white pawns has lost its finial which is loose in the box. The red king has lost his cross. The playing board is split down its spine although intact and has general surface wear. No writing underneath the pieces. Red knight missing piece at top.King is approximately 9 cm tall.

Robrecht, Hoflieferant, Berlin', gilt wire-bound ivory grip, lion's head pommel with glass-inset eyes, folding guard with chain and anchor decoration, folding thumbguard with hole for scabbard pin and also engraved 'Rathke', in leather and gilt metal mounted scabbard with two suspension loops.
