Fair condition. ·Ivory shawl has strong colours, very clean and fresh appearance, ground has fabulously well done repairs to the ground, almost invisible - mainly to the centre but scattered generally. A couple of small rust spots. Nnice signature.

A brocaded yellow changeable silk taffeta gown, circa 1810-15, sprigged overall in ivory and edged in ivory braid, linen-lined bodice with cross-over front panels, fall-front to skirt, yellow and white ribbon to waist, bust approx 81cm, 32inSold with a note giving the family tree, stating it is a maternity gown which belonged to Lady Hood of Avalon, wife of Captain Alexander Hood (1758-1795) or his brother Samuel, 3rd Viscount (1808-1846). CONDITION REPORT: Colour is good and very fresh. The dress looks as though it was made up from the re-used silk of previous dress - probably from the 1790s. Several small splits to silk at underarms. Faint stitch line at bodice waist, probably where waist ribbon was originally attached. Otherwise good condition.

Top is lacking one button. A couple of very small brown stains to smock dress (not immediately obvious) and one button is detached and secured to dress with safety-pin. Smock dress bust 34in, 86cm across top edge of button-up bodice. Shorts waist max 3oin.

A whitework embroidered muslin dress, circa 1810-15, empire-line with draw-string to neck and waist, whitework spots overall, the hem with embroidered lozenges and tulle bands; together with an ivory silk under-dress with tulle adorned sleeves c.1810-20 (2) Provenance: Caroline Littlewood CONDITION REPORT: ·Muslin dress: Numerous darned repairs/small holes where muslin has thinning around whitework spots (not immediately obvious, only upon close inspection). Most noticeable are approx. 2 darned repairs at left underarm approx. 3 and 4cm long. 0.5cm hole to muslin ground at left front hem. Row of 3 partially darned 1cm holes at lower rear right skirt near hem. L-shaped darned repair at left side seam near hem 6x8cm. Several pin-head sized holes to tulle hem. Small light brown soil spot-stain at rear right bodice and at left front sleeve (minor). ·Under-dress: one hole to rear right hem, 2 x 1cm and 2 small areas of thinning here also, largest 3 x 0.5cm. Light scuffing to silk, minor and hard to see. Small light brown spot stain to lower front skirt. Light brown discolouration at interior underarms, not visible to exterior.

A pink faille and ivory damask historicist evening gown, 1875-80, the long jacket-like bodice with Elizabethan style puffed sleeves, and pleated satin inserts, hook and eye fastened to front with three buttons, matching trained skirt, bust approx 81cm, 32in; together with printed cotton bustle; a black velvet bodice, late 1870s; and two lace and pink ribbon trimmed chignon covers (5) CONDITION REPORT: Faint droplet stain down hem of jacket and centre front skirt. Faded over shoulders but because it is pale pink it is generally not noticeable. Faint mark to rear bodice. Faint perspiration stains at underarm, visible on cotton lining only. Skirt has fading down front, right side and rear hem. Black velvet jacket is good condition. Caps in good condition. Bustle is soiled but good condition.

A woven woollen square shawl, Norwich, 1830-40, the central ivory field with striped foliate bands within deep foliate paisley borders, 162cm square; together with a Paisley Kirking shawl c.1845, the ivory field with blue and wine curling boteh borders, (2) CONDITION REPORT: Norwich shawl - numerous small splits holes (largest 34cm), these aren't immediately obvious, and repairs but the colours are good. Signature to ivory ground. Kirking shawl has faint stains/rust marks to ivory central field and a few scattered small moth holes, some dye run at edges, but overall the colours are good .

A red and black jacquard changeable silk morning/deshabille robe, circa 1810-15, with internal ties but no other fastenings, lined in ivory silk and interlined with wool; together with some matching fabric fragments; and a yellow/ivory changeable silk stole embroidered with Prince of Wales feathers to celebrate the British Regency (1811-26), (qty)Provenance: Caroline Littlewood CONDITION REPORT: ·Morning robe - generally good condition, ivory silk lining is worn around armholes and neck exposing the padding. Lining has thinned in places and split on inside front skirt areas. Exterior is generally good and fresh. Small hole and stain near front right hem area - barely noticeable. Spare fabric panels not removed from this piece but another matching garment. Nice piece.·Stole - small damp freckles to embroidered corner, thinned and split areas mainly to borders, faint stains scattered generally. Fair-poor condition.

An E & J Hooper ivory satin gown, circa 1912, label to waistband, the empire-line bodice trimmed with bands of embroidered and sequinned tulle in scrolling and floral motifs, falling to the rear with beaded tassels, bust approx 86cm, 34in, waist 51cm, 20in CONDITION REPORT: First impression is fresh and good. Sections of the interior bodice silk lining have been repaired/replaced (well done). Silk to edge of interior bodice is splitting in places near hooks. Skirt is lacking lining. The under layers of sleeves have been removed. Several small splits to silk at sleeves. Faint light brown stain to lower left skirt, not immediately obvious.

A whitework embroidered muslin dress, circa 1810, empire-line, long sleeves, the bodice with pulled and drawn threadwork, the bodice with fruiting vines; together with an ivory satin gown c.1820-25 with puff sleeves; and a whiteworked cotton gown c.1825-8 with elaborately frilled whitework hem (3)Provenance: Caroline Littlewood CONDITION REPORT: ·All with wear or repairs·Dress with vines: numerous darned repairs, most notably approx. 6 at front bodice the largest 2x1cm. Patch repair to front hem 3cm square, and at rear hem 8x2cm. 8cm split here also.·Cotton gown: 9cm split to centre front bodice and at left cuff along whiteworked edge approx. 7cm. Two triangular splits/cuts in front skirt, 4cm split in whitework at front hem and scattering of small holes. Small darned repairs at rear hem. Fraying along shoulder seam edges.·Satin gown or under-dress: hole and 2 small splits to bodice front, silk is starchy to handle - probably washed and ironed! 2cm diam hole and small split to rear hem. Faint soil mark around seat area. Overall fresh appearance.

A cut-velvet evening jacket, 1920s, in shades of dusty pink, ivory and black, with deep fringing to hem and sleeves, chest approx 107cm, 42in This jacket is pictured in 'Collecting Fashion & Accessories' by Carol Harris, p.36 CONDITION REPORT: Good condition.

A block-printed cotton caraco, 1790-1800, with sprigged strawberry repeats in red on a buff ground, with drawstring to neck, and ties to front waist, internal linen breast panels, two pleats to rear waist; together with a French quilted yellow silk petticoat, 1750-90 (2)Provenance: Caroline Littlewood CONDITION REPORT: ·Caraco: the ground colour was originally more yellow - the shoulders, the ground is more ivory in comparison to centre front panels but the red strawberries seem to be the same deep red so no obviously faded. There are 2 rear belt loops but no belt, internally clean. Repaired 5cm L-shaped tear top of right sleeve. Petticoat: plain unquilted upper edge generally with wear and splits, quilted top area generally with splits, wool lining band badly moth damaged and with holes, soiling to hem in places, central areas with scattered small splits. Fair-poor condition.
