Good rare Square Piano by Matthew & William Stodart, the mahogany case inlaid with ebony and satinwood chequered banding, also with later attractive Edwardian, painted floral swag and trailing foliate decoration, the fascia board and cheeks of handsomely figured maple and fitted with two foliate fretted panels, the keyboard with ivory naturals and ebony accidentals, upon an elegant stand with square tapered legs terminating in brass caps and castors Inscribed on an oval plaque on the name board M & W Stodart, Makers to Their Majesties, His Royal Family, Golden Square, London, initialled GWD to the top left of the sound board and inscribed with the serial number 808 Length 166.5cm, width 60.5cm *This square piano is sold with written and pictorial records of restoration undertaken by Jean Maurer in December 2017
French two-manual harpsichord by Sébastien Garnier, Paris, 1747, the case side veneered with panels of pear wood with mahogany crossbanding, the lid of pearwood edged with later mouldings, the junction between the main lid and the front flap with pierced steel strap hinges, the two panels of the lid interior each painted en grisaille with ruined castles in a landscape, the soundboard painted with sprays of flowers inhabited by insects, with later gilded rose pierced and carved with a naked lady holding an hourglass, the later wrestplank painted with scrolling foliage, the keyboards, compass GG to d3, both with ebony naturals, the lower keyboard with bone overlaid accidentals and gilded arcading, the upper keyboard with ivory overlaid accidentals and ivory arcading, registration comprising two 8ft. stops and one 4ft stop with shove coupler, metal hand-lever controlling the 4ft register, on later curved X-frame supports united by a stretcher. Inscribed on the uppermost key shaft of the lower manual Sebastian Garnier….le 23ème 1747 Length 233cm, width 88.5cm, case depth 28cm *Formerly in the Collection of Michael Thomas. Recorded in Makers of the Harpsichord and Clavichord 1440-1840, by Donald Boalch (3rd edition, ed. Charles Mould), pp. 67 & 325. A late 18th century decagonal tea caddy, veneered in ivory, 11 cm wide See illustrationReport by RBPlated/silver coloured metal mounts, some of the ivory panels are slightly warped or cracked, where the caddy opens the bottom section has a tortoiseshell veneered top, one piece missing, but the cover has none which is now replaced with some modernish rubber/material.
A Dutch rococo coffee pot, with a turned ivory handle, one foot detached, a matching teapot, sugar bowl and cover, and a similar cream jug (4)Report by GHCombined gross weight 46.6 ozt General wear and tear. Some dents. Ivory handle to coffee pot with cracks. Possible solder repair to top of the handle of the sugar bowl. Tear to silver around the top of the cream jug and also possible solder repair to the top of that handle. Top of the teapot is loose and hinge in bad order, nearly worn through. Generally in need of lots of work.

The flowers are decorated with copper middles, the stole is dotted with gold sequins, probably French/late Edwardian or early 1920's. Huw Lloyd-Langton - 1974 Gibson Les Paul Custom 20th Anniversary electric guitar, made in USA, ser. no. 397846; Finish: ivory, various lacquer cracks and blemishes; Fretboard: ebony; Frets: dent wear to first position, refret; Electrics: working; Hardware: replaced strap buttons, replaced switch tip, heavy wear and pitting to metal parts; Other: Factory 2 stamp to the back of the head and signs of a previous neck repair to the volute area; Case: earlier five latch Gibson hard case, circa 1960, with brown exterior and pink interior bearing an assortment of various Hawkwind and other guest passes; Overall condition: fair *One of Huw Lloyd-Langton's main working instruments used for both touring and recording. He nicknamed this guitar 'Lizzie'. It is thought that Huw purchased this guitar directly from the Gibson factory. Sold with a number of photographs dating from the mid '70s and later depicting Huw using the guitar with both Hawkwind and The Lloyd Langton Group ** The Factory 2 stamp likely relates to a factory repair on the head. The back of the head has been refinished, whilst the "2" is clearly on top of the refinishing work
