Late nineteenth century Chinese Canton carved ivory brooch, the carved and pierced oval panel depicting landscape with figures and buildings, mounted in yellow metal brooch fitting, 54mm x 43mm CONDITION REPORT The ivory panel measures approximately 43mm x 36mm. One small chip to the top of a pagoda. Straining and cracks to the ivory commensurate with age. The yellow metal mount has had a repair and would also appear to have been tested in the past. Someone has scraped / scratched the surface which does reveal a brass base metal under the gilded surface
