An Old Sheffield Plate tea caddy of ovoid partially fluted form. With ivory finial and stepped hinged cover housing two compartments. Engraved to the body with a trailing band of leaves and flowers and with a family crest and motto; fortitudine over a sword spearing a wild boars head, possibly Erskine of Carnock, 16.5cm. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Wear to the plating. Lock non functioning. Dent to the foot.

Looking at the reverse image there is a crescent shaped object across her shoulders, this was perhaps a full circle originally.

Affortunato Gory (1895-1925), a tall alabaster group with four bacchantes, early 20th C. H.: 86,5 cm Signed on the back, on the base, A. Gory, for Affortunato Gory. Affortunato Gory, Italian/French (1895 - 1925) Affortunato Gory was born in Florence. He studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence under Augusto Rivalta. In the beginning of the 20th century he moved to Paris and completed his education under Victorien-Antoine Basset. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1902, 1904, 1912, 1914 and 1923. His oeuvre consists of sculptures of young women, children and some historical figures like Rembrandt en Dante. He worked in marble, bronze, ivory, often combining these materials in so-called chryselephantine figures.
