A 19th century Japanese ivory kagmaibuta, the central bronze panel set with a dragon and Fujyama, diameter 4.5cm.Additional InformationThere is a crack from the rim to the side of the metal inset plaque all the way round the back to the central pint, there is also a 5mm hairline crack opposing this, light surface scratches and staining elsewhere.
An early 20th century Japanese carved ivory netsuke of a man seated beside a large Daruma doll, height 2.5cm, length 3cm, and an early 20th century Japanese carved ivory netsuke of a boy beating a hand drum, height 4cm.Additional InformationWhere the drum attaches to the boy there is a section which has been reglued and this is rather unsightly. Natural staining throughout and a couple of cracks commensurate with age.
A good and large Japanese Meiji period carved ivory netsuke modelled as a group of figures, signed to red rectangular plaque to the base, height 6cm, width 7cm. Provenance: the property of a Worcestershire gentleman. Additional InformationSome natural colour change to the ivory commensurate with age, a 3mm hairline crack running through one of the base holes but overall an excellent example.

Victor Hugo (French poet, novelist, and dramatist, 1802-85) - a signed autograph letter dated 1866 of Guernsey interest, the letter handwritten in ink, dated 'H.H. 3 juin 1866' (Hauteville House 3rd June 1866), written as a testimonial to the "superior" bookbinding services provided by Mr. Henry Turner of Mill Street, Guernsey, who had bound the original manuscript of Les Travailleurs de la Mer, framed with a 19th century printed translation, newspaper cutting referring to the bookbinding service provided by Turner to Victor Hugo and portrait photogravure of Victor Hugo with facsimile signature, overall frame size 36 x 22¾in. (91.5 x 57.75cm.). *Condition; Letter and newspaper cutting with some insect damage to surface of paper in places, some foxing and time staining. Lighter insect damage to printed translation with some foxing and light mount burn. Some foxing to margins of portrait print. In a modern mahogany style frame with ivory mount.
A Heriz carpet, probably early 20th century, the madder field with all over stylised floral and foliate motifs and palmettes, worked in dark blue, light blue, buff, pale green, ivory and black, within a dark blue Herati style border with keyed guards, 133½ x 97¼in. (339 x 247cm.).* Condition: Some losses to fringing. Pile good and colour strong and even. A few very minor small patches of wear. Possibly a few very small stitched repairs to selvege. Good overall.
An Afshan Kuba Blossom rug, east Caucasus, 19th / early 20th century, the dark blue field with all over decoration of floral vines, sickle leaves and palmettes in shades of sunflower yellow, madder red, ivory, aqua green, sky-blue, dusky pink, cerise and black, within a madder and ivory Kufic border, 83½ x 44¼in. (212 x 112.5cm.). *Condition: Worn crease line across centre. Wear to selvege at one corner and minor wear to selvege elsewhere. Some fraying to knotted fringe to centre of one end, minor wear to other end. Colours strong. No holes, moth damage or repairs. Appears very original.
A large Royal Worcester porcelain figure of a water carrier, modelled by James Hadley, the classical maiden in blush ivory drapery with pale blue and gilt border, raised on a gilt lined socle, puce printed marks and date cipher for 1893, 20½in. (52cm.) high. *Condition: Some gilt wear to edges. Firing hairline from hole to centre of base. No other faults.
An antique Abadeh Hebatlu rug, the octagonal madder medallion with dark blue and ivory inner Turkoman style gol, on a dark blue hexagonal field with all over floral, eight pointed star and insect decoration, with central tree stem and branch axis, within conforming madder spandrels, each with an additional ivory gol, within a brown tree border and blue floral meander guards, 84 x 62in. (213.5 x 157.5cm.). *Condition: Some crease wear to one side of rug. Colours good. A few areas of wear to the selvege on both sides. Wear to fringes, notably to centre of both ends, and one end has a 2in. split to centre.

(17.8cm.) long, together with two Chinese Canton ivory hatpins, the first of spherical form with a bird amidst floral and foliate decoration, the finial in yellow metal and topped with turquoise stone, the second as a dragon. (complete); together with a 19th century mahogany cased travelling chess set with red stained and natural ivory pieces, the board 9¼in. (23.5cm.) square; and a 19th century Chinese export chinoiserie lacquered folding chess / backgammon board. (3) * Condition: Chess set: One white bishop with small chip to mitre. Old glue to threaded joint below one white knight's head. Red queen - worn patch to red stain to ball to top. Two chips to turning on red king. A few tiny frits to collars on pawns. Red pieces have a few rubs and tiny scratches to stained colour. One red knight has heavier wear to detail on head.- Travelling chess set: Very good. Complete. Some rubbing to polish around holes on board squares from placing of pieces during play. Dark spirit stain to wood to border of board in one corner. Exterior has some light scratches and scuffs to surface.- Chinese board: Fair condition - heavy wear to lacquer to exterior and chips/flakes to edges. Interior has some gilt wear and large crack across lacquer to one side. Lacks catch to keep closed.
