Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use, The leather with marks and scratches, fading and some wear, overall it would benefit from a polish, There are three bramah locks present, the others are replacements with some later timber fitted to fill the gaps, There are some old chips, losses, and some replacments to veneers and elements of cock-beading, The top revolving freely on the pedestal base,One outswept leg with old split and crack, this appears to have had some repair, it appears solid at time of report, it may require some further bracing or repairs in the future, Some marks and wear to the wooden areas, such as the frieze and the legs, overall this would benefit from a clean and a polish The inset ivory panels with the numbers have wear and some loss to the blacked areas - these may benefit from a sympathetic restorationCondition Report Disclaimer

Y A matched set of twelve Milanese ebony, ebonised and ivory marquetry chairs, in 17th century style, second half 19th century, comprising a set of six and one similar, and a set of five, decorated with finely detailed ivory marquetry throughout, each cartouche shaped splat centred by a depiction of an historical figure, flanked by turned and square section uprights surmounted by turned finials, each tapering solid seat above square section baluster shaped and bobbin turned legs joined by a H shaped stretcher, the six larger chairs each 125cm high, 50cm wide, 44cm deep, the remaining chairs approximately 119cm high, 48cm wide, 44cm deepFor a closely related set of four chairs, see Christie's, Amsterdam, Furniture, Clocks, Carpets, Sculpture and Works of Art, 20th December 2000, Lot 375 (4,096 Dutch gilders).

Condition Report: Marks, scratches and abrasions comensurate with age and use. Some additional marks and fading to the topOld splits and chips. some losses and repairs. Some fading, particularly in some areas. Some dark staining to surface. Noticeable split across the front of one drawer.Lacking leather inset. The handles to the drawers of the secretaire section have likely been variously later replaced. The hinges to the fall are 'sticky' and require some adjustment to run smoothlyAll metalware including locks ( Bramah) appear original and present. Keys are lacking.Atleast one of the feet need simple re-securing as are loose.
